Abby Wilner and Cathy Stocker, founders of quarterlifecrisis.com and co-authors of Quarterlifer's Companion, are currently scheduling seminars and workshops for college students, faculty and campus staff, young alumni, young professionals, and employers of recent graduates.

The workshops draw on exercises from their guidebook for recent graduates, a follow-up to the bestseller Quarterlife Crisis, featured on Oprah, The Today Show, and others. Quarterlife Crisis was the first book to shed light on the disillusionment and lack of preparation that recent college grads feel when they enter the "real world." Quarterlifer's Companion is an essential practical follow-up containing exercises and advice from the experts in fields such as personal finance, career development and relationships.

The need for practical life-skills
Quarterlifer's Companion and Quarterlife Workshops are responses to all of the requests for more concrete help and direction that we receive from the thousands of twentysomethings who visit our website. They feel prepared academically but completely unprepared to tackle the day-to-day challenges of handling the real world.

We designed these workshops based on content from the new book, to be a fun and interactive "bootcamp" for the real world. Our interactive exercises encourage participant interaction to make for a dynamic and productive workshop.

Workshop Topics
Our workshops address the issues and answer the questions that recent grads ask us everyday:

Career
  • How do I figure out what I want to do with my life?
  • I can't believe that I am Xeroxing, again.
  • I know how to do my job. What I can't figure out is all the crazy people I am working with.

    Finances
  • How do I keep from going bankrupt, especially now that I have to pay back those student loans?
  • You're telling me to save some money? Are you kidding?
  • 401(K)s and HMOs -- I never learned this vocabulary in school.

    Relationships
  • How do I maintain my college friendships now that we are all going in different directions?
  • How do I meet new people when I am the only person under 40 at my new job?
  • Moving Back home: can't live with them, can't afford not to.

    Balance
  • All I do anymore is work and run errands.
  • Where did all of my extracurriculars go?
  • I am already having a quarterlife crisis.

Our workshops not only help prepare soon-to-be recent grads for the "real world" but assist in strengthening ties between schools and their young alumni.

"Students continue to talk about the seminar on campus and those who missed it are crying... Piedmont's alumni office is the benefactor of the workshop's success."
    - Program Director at Piedmont College

    Workshop design
Our workshops are successful because we customize each one according to the needs of your staff and students. We typically begin the workshop planning process by speaking with you about your student body and the top concerns that you hear. We then follow up by establishing a dedicated portion of our website where we survey your students and gauge their top concerns and needs regarding life after graduation. We then design our presentation and handouts based on their responses, bringing in their voices and specific questions. And we always include information and handouts that explain what university resources are available to students and recent grads. After the event, we follow up with a quick, anonymous online survey to find out what participants gained from the workshop, and send you their feedback.

We design 2-hour, 1/2 day and full-day workshops for small or large groups and because we customize our workshops, we offer a great deal of pricing flexibility. We are particularly sensitive to university budgets.

Call or email us and we will discuss your interests and how we can work within your budget to deliver a fun and essential program to help your students succeed.
