OK, my dad finally admitted last night that he has been having anxiety attacks at work. I told my mom I'd overnight him some of my Xanax as a temporary fix-it. Well, my dad said he wouldn't take it because his company regularly does pee tests, and they would question him if he didn't have a prescription for it.
They currently do not have insurance, so going to the doc to get a scrip for another type of medicine is gonna be pricey & will have to wait till the first of the month.
Does anybody know if it shows up in pee tests?

If this drug is used for an extended period of time, laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., liver function tests, complete blood count) may be performed periodically to check for side effects. Consult your doctor for more details.
This is what Webmd says about the drug in the Notes section. So I'm not too sure if they would find it in his pee, especially if they aren't looking for it.

Yeah, I was thinking that drug tests look for stuff like cocaine and stuff like that. I don't know. I feel bad for him.
We are actually now gonna distract him, he's coming down here today to go fishing.

Yes, just so you Xanax is a benzodiazapine. They are tested for illegal use in drug screening tests. In fact, it's a regulated substance and if used without a Rx, you can be in big trouble.

Well, that's scary to know, because I have taken it in the past and not listed it as a drug I take regularly, and never had a problem with a pee test. Interesting.

As long as you have an Rx for it in your name, you are fine. :)

I do, but now I'm curious as to why I've never been asked for one.
And what about buying meds in Mexico, if you don't have a scrip to buy them, and customs knows you are bringing them back over.....hmm...I'm gonna have to go research that.
