My dad was telling me last night that he heard if you start ingesting honey that was made within your area on a regular basis it could help with allergies. I am SOOO miserable right now (and was sent home early yesterday because of how bad I was, today is the same but i'm just gonna have to suck it up) that I want to try anything.

Has anyone heard about this? And for those in my area, where could get any local honey?

I have this feeling I may need to go to the doc's and find out about getting shots, but I'd really like that to be my last resort. My claritin-D 24 hr is just not working that great anymore :(

If you google it, there are a bunch of articles. It seems to work like an immune system booster or (for example) a flu shot. It gives you a small, manageable dosage of whatever allergens are in your local area and you build up a resistance to them over time.

I might try it...

Yeah, we were talking about this at work...it can't HURT you...well, it could if you ate a lot and gained weight, but you know what I mean...

I like hot tea so I was thinking about using some to sweeten my tea instead of using a packet of sugar.

Now I just need to find a local farmer's market or something...

This does work. Honey made by bees that gather pollen in your local area helps you build up a resistance to allergens...it works like an innoculation. I get honey from a couple of local orchards, and my suffering is GREATLY reduced. I always put it in tea.
