One day I had this feeling like I needed to crack my back. I didn't know how, so I did some practice and learned.
Since then I have mastered the art of back cracking to the point that all I have to do is move slightly in one direction and I hear it crack in like 6 different spots.
This is actually starting to freak me out. Does anyone else feel the need to crack their back every second? Is it harmful?

i crack my back, fingers and wrists.
I heard it's bad for the cartilege. So i try and take some glucosamine chondritin every once in a while.

I don't do it all day like you, Kitty, but I crack my back once every night when I get in bed. I feel like it releases all the pressure built up during the day. This started sort of gradually - I used to just stretch my back out and nothing would crack, then there would be like one little pop, now it is like "snap, crackle, pop".
Every time I do it now, my husband is like "GEEZ! Stop doing that, you're going to have serious back problems when you're old." Sometimes I'm scared that I will have problems - i had scoliosis when I was in middle/high school that was not severe, but enough to send me to a physical therapist who assigned stretching exercises to straighten my spine. Yet I keep doing it - it feels so good and it's not like I am doing any crazy contortions to get my back to crack, it just feels kinda natural by now.

I needed to crack my back very often to relieve pain, tightness, shooting pains in my legs etc....
Went to a chiropractor a month ago and found out i have a reversal of the cervical curve in my neck and a compressed disk. I guess the 9 seasons of high school, college, and pro football took its toll. I go for adjustments 3 times a week and i am feeling great :) :)

I crack my back and neck ALL the time. I think it's because of sitting at a desk all day. I've heard it's not bad for you--it doesn't really make a difference. I don't know though...

My back always does that too! I don't think the twisting around and having your back or neck just pop is bad, but when you are cracking on purpose is when things could become worse for you later.

I don't think it's so bad. I crack my back everyday too and go to get the chiropractor to crack my neck for me every 2 weeks (whiplash injury from 3 car accidents YEARS ago, ugh) If the chiropractors do it then why can't I? It's my spine! I'll crack it when I want to! It freaks my hubby out because it has a very bass sounding pop, hehehe. I say crack away Kit!
