Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm trying to find out more information about heart murmurs outside of the medical websites and such. Like, how does it affect daily life? What are things to be cautious of?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not an expert by any means but I do have about three friends who have heart murmurs. I believe all of them take daily medication but other than that, they live completely normal lives.

GET CHECKED OUT.
A doctor is the only way to go here.
I thought I had developed an electrical problem so I got an EKG. I was losing sleep and couldn't think about anything else. Only having the test tell me I was ok took the weight off my mind.

I thought I had one too. Senior year of high school, I started getting this weird feeling in my chest where it felt like it was speeding up for just a beat or so...or someone was poking it or something. It's really hard to explain, but it kind of feels like a fluttery spasm.
I went to the doctor and they hooked me up to this portable heart monitor that I had to carry around with me for a day or two and it recorded all my heart activity during the normal course of a day. It had a button on it so whenever I felt it, I could push the button and that would put a flag on the recording so they could go right to that spot of the tape...the places where I was getting this feeling. Anyway, they said that my pericartium...the protective sack that your heart sits in...spasms and that's what causes the weird feeling. There is nothing wrong with my heart. It's "as strong as a horse", my doctor said. haha. It's just that the sack spams and ends up brushing against my heart or something and causes a weird feeling.
Anyway, mine comes and goes. I'm pretty sure it is stress-induced. I can go months and even a year or two without feeling it, but when the pressure is on, that's when it starts to come back...like now. haha. And the frequency and intensity of it will worsen when I'm thinking about it a lot too. Weird huh? haha.

Yea, I don't know too much on it either, but one of my cousins has it and she lives a perfectly normal life. At least it doesn't prevent her from going out and partying every weekend! lol

The information isn't really needed for my concern. A friend of mine got checked out after she felt what she referred to as "muscle spasms" in her chest, and the doctor told her she has a heart murmur, and she's been freaked out at the idea. I guess she was born with one, but it went away when she was a kid, and now it's back. I figured if I could get her information from people who have experienced it and such at her age, she might be less worried.
Thanks for the info you guys! I'll pass it on. :)
