I don't exactly know why I'm posting this other than to say it is rather humorous to me and I think these brilliant folks should get a Darwin Award. This is taken from the local news website nbc25.com and the full story was in Sunday's paper:
Two Dead After High Speed Chase
MIDDLETOWN, MD- Two Hagerstown men - one of them wanted by local officials - are dead after leading police on a high-speed chase.
Maryland State Police say it started when the driver, 26-year-old Gregory Stone, pulled his car within inches of a trooper`s rear bumper on Interstate 70 early Saturday morning.
When the trooper tried to pull Stone over, he sped up and exited onto Route 40. Police followed Stone into Middletown where he reached speeds up to 95 MPH before crashing into a utility pole. Stone was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, 27-year-old Randy Howard, died later at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Stone was wanted by Hagerstown Police on first- and second-degree assault charges. He was also driving on a suspended license with five baggies of cocaine in the car.
So basically this brilliant genius with several baggies of cocaine in his car decided it was a good idea to tailgate a police car and coming so close to the car that in the original article the cop said he couldn't see their headlights and then when the cop sped up they sped up. In the end they went on a high speed chase and the cop knew the local roads and knew there was a sharp curve ahead on 40 and slowed down but the speeding car didn't and slammed right into a utility pole.
But overall I think the motto of the story is if you've got several outstanding warrants for your arrest and cocaine in your car -- don't tailgate police cars :huge:
