insurance for the self employed

I finally bit the bullet and found a dentist in the town I live in, and it's gonna cost me $300 for my first visit without insurance! I really shouldn't complain because it's my own fault I'm in this situation. But I'm bummed none the less.

you've probably gotten your teeth cleaned already, but some dental schools/community colleges with dental programs will clean your teeth for under $15. also there are free clinics in cities, and my school's alumni program (psu) has pretty cheap health insurance (compared to cobra), maybe yours does too? or of course you could try never getting ill
