My best friend wants me to apply for a position at the college he works at. I have no idea how much the job pays, all it says is "salary commensurate with experience". It would have to be a pretty good jump in pay to take it, but I'm not sure what to expect. Anyone have any ideas how much a college Publications Manager should make? BTW, I have 3 years publishing experience.

University jobs don't pay very well. I'm making OK money, but if I was a Marcom Specialist anywhere else, i'd be making a lot more.

But the exact same job in industry would pay more.

I dont' know what you make...but I would think anything with a manager title would make at the very least 65k? Thats just a guess.

You mean for your job...I was talking across the board.

I would also say that it depends on location. For instance, Kitty gave 65K, but down here a Manager would start around 45K

I'm talking across the board as well. Any manager in a University would probably make more if they were to leave the University. It's probably not ALWAYS the case, but I'd say it is 80% of the time.

Very dependent upon location and cost of living for the area.

Well, I don't think it's going to be an issue, J found out today that they made an offer to someone already. But who knows what will happen. Oh and I'm not sure if it was really "management" as in managing other people in a dept, but more managing the publications being produced.
