As for ideas, I suggest a marketing campaign: websites, billboards, flyers, and commercials with a picture of the man in need and the slogan: "Would you sleep with my friend? He's a great guy, and could really use it."

I was just amazed at the speed which responses came down. I was talking to paiger on IM and she posted it when QLC came back up and a few minutes later there were like 15 responses.

I hope to end my drought sometimes in the near future. I've had some dates but nothing especially promising. It probably helps that after being all blah for the last month I'm in a vastly improved mood and making the effort to get out more. It's just hard for me to meet girls. Some people's story of colledge are just rediculous. My school just does not work like that. Briliant boy that I am, I go to the only school in the country with more guys than girls. In my dorm the girls were choosy, and the guys were mostly celibate.

How many of you here who are "whining" about not getting any honestly believe that you couldn't score and get sex within the next month, if they just tried? I'm talking about sex with basically anyone of one's sexual preference (hookers excluded), NOT with the girl/guy of your dreams, but ANY guy/girl.

I know this guy... He's not very bright, not very interesting, not very nice, not very much anyone would want to be with... But pretty much every weekend he ends up at his house with a girl. At first I didn't understand how. But after having heard stories of who he'd been with and what they looked like, I came to the conclusion that it can be explained using statistics... Let's say that this guy has a 1 % chance to get with your standard girl. All he has to do, is to hit on 100 girls, then he'll score. So basically it all comes down to him having to throw all inhibitions and preferences over board, and just start chatting up girls - which he does. In 99 cased he is rejected. But once in a while he get's lucky. He seemingly has no pride whatsoever. He doesn't care if he gets rejected. He just moves on to the next girl...

I find his approach interesting, but it's not very appealing to me.

I'm extremely picky and only go for girls I really want to be with, not for just any girl with a pulse and a set of boobs. If the latter were my criteria, I'm 100 % sure that I could be a girl any saturday night. This has lead to me going on three years without sex now... That's really a long time. But I'm not losing any sleep over it. Heck, I've even turned down sex from time to time...

It's true, Tiean, there are a fair amount of guys out there who do that. I don't think they get turned down that much either. Since a lot of guys are shy or scared of rejection or whatever, the guy that simply has the balls to go up to anyone he sees and try to chat often gets some positive responses, just because girls don't get approached all that much.

Just read some of the posts and started thinking...

In the rows of shy, not-outgoing guys you could find so many guys that would be almost all those things that women say they want: trustworthy, honest, treating women with respect, good listeners, polite, non-cheaters, etc. But the guys "don't get the chance" to show that they're all this. Because of their shyness they don't come off as guys that are all that into girls and basically all that interesting. Heck, they might even seem completely boring. I figure this isn't very attractive.

Then the sports jock (or whatever we want to call him) comes along and catches the girls' eye because he's seemingly fun to be around, sure seems interested in the girls, and when he talks to girls, he even seems nice and seems to treat women with respect and so on. After some dates or some months of dating, it turns out that the jock is a complete jerk, pretty much the exact oppposite of all the good qualities that made him interesting in the beginning. They break up and the girl is single again.
Let's say this a typical situaion, ie. a lot of girls have been with this type of guy. Now the shy, nice guy looks at the girl he likes and is struck by utter lac of confidence. He thinks that he will NEVER be able to get that girl because he is nothing like the guy she just dated. If she isn't ever going to be interested in him, why then bother to ask her out on a date and risk to be the laughing stock of the town...
I'm not trying to point fingers at anyone, just trying to figure out what is "wrong"...

I am on to something or is this simply a construct of my imagination?

I think your last post was dead on, Tiean. First impressions are everything and shy guys often don't make a good first impression, so the confident guy with bad intentions seems to always gets the girl. In a social setting the shy guy will look around and see other guys who he views as more confident and smooth, and figures that he can't compete with them so he doesn't try. It's not necessarily that women are always looking for that 'jock' type you describe, but that is often the only type that seems to make advances, and they generally make a good enough first impression, so women figure why not? The guys who don't appear to be trying so hard to act like something they're not are often the best partners in the long run, but women so often go for that first impression (as do guys of course), and shy guys know that and therefore feel inadequate, believing that the more aggressive types are all anyone wants.

First time here in a while, and I run into this thread. Quite an innovative one!

But I feel that I gotta be a party pooper here.

I'm not offended by this thread, because if I said that, you guys would say "Then don't read it."

But I'm compelled to say that you guys grossly underestimate the difficulty of finding a partner. Do I want to get laid? Of course, I'm human! But it's not exactly a good idea to try to broach that subject, when I and half the girls I know are part of a religious community and background. Imagine if I did that. Losing face with everyone would be the least of my problems.

Should I quit my religion? That's a solution. But I don't want to do that. I openly admit that my religion has killed my dating (and sex) prospects, but I guess life has its tradeoffs.

The bottom line is that for me, it's extremely difficult to find someone to broach that topic with, regardless of the girl's religion. The risk of losing face is big. All the decent-looking girls seem to have boyfriends (or engagement rings) these days, or don't want to get hurt by getting involved with someone for a short time. The remainder are happy single. Who's left?

Also, girls in America don't seem to be as attracted to Asian men compared to men of other races. I can write a whole post about that, but there's already been threads on that.

Finally, when I hear that ~20% of people these days have some type of STD or another, it boggles my mind how you can't be scared shitless about that. Condoms? They protect against most things but not herpes.

It's really frustrating, this culture, in which you're a big loser if you're not getting any.

Sorry if I'm taking this thread too seriously, but somehow I just never grasped the idea that finding someone to have sex with is easy. And no, for me the solution is not Vegas or Amsterdam. Any thoughts?

You are right Words. Sometimes I do expect things out of my "relationship", but then again I don't cry about it if nothing happens, which is probably where I get the "no strings" idea. i'm so up in the air about this. of course, in the long run, a meaningful relationship is great; however, the chances of having a good fuck are always better than the chance that the relationship is going to work out. Some people want the fuck without the hassle. That doesn't mean there isn't emotion and caring. I've never slept with someone I didn't care about. Never had a one night stand. Just because you don't end up in a relationship with the person does not mean the sex was a bad thing to do.. Although I do fault myself for getting into sex to fast with my last fling. I used to have great self-control, but it has dwindled. it's hard when a super hot girl is in the sack seducing you, and i regretted it completely afterwards since the girl is totally bitchy and fake. i'm picky who i sleep with, and this probably is the one person that I regret it with.
