There is a really mean co worker in my team. He totally yelled at me the other day saying how I ruin the project he's been working on. In fact I did some damage control and everything was fine after that. Ofcourse he made it sound so much worse than it really was. So I asked him about it today, if everything's resolved to which he answered to the extend that he doesn't even remember what I was talking about. I can't believe he forgot it so fast. Anyway, later I find out that he's been talking crap behind my back saying I don't get work done and etc. he's made me look really bad infront of my manager. I'm wondering if I should tell my manager- but this would mean telling her the whole story including how unprofessional he was for yelling at me (which I suspect because I am a lot younger & fairly new so he can get away with it) Would it back fire me?

I say talk to your manager. That is what they are there for. Chances are too the manager already is onto what is going on, as I am sure if this guy did this kind of stuff to you, you are not the only one.

I'd say talk to the manager - start as mild and cautious as possible, and then progress as you see how the manager picks on it.

Just make sure you start the story with saying it's cool and every thing has been resolved with the damage control you did.

But yeah, speak up. Nobody deserves to be treated the way you are. It's called harassment, and once you tell your manager, it becomes her problem as well.

I agree with everyone else. Tell your boss, but make sure you're completely honest. If there's work that you didn't do, or didn't do that well, you should talk about that too. That way it doesn't look like you're covering your ass, or scapegoating.
