Thats insanity. I would never work that late, no matter how much they paid me. Fortunatly, any work I have to do at night I can do at home. Go have a drink. If you are at work after midnight there are no more rules.

the jobs that i've had actually encourage craziness...even during work hours. bizzarre, i know! i love the work i do! i could think of a few things i'd like to do after hours without the boss knowing, but haven't had much opportunity to act on any of them...maybe when i have a "real" job after graduate school. hmmmm.... ;)

I just got home from work at 1:30 a.m. After getting up at 6:30 a.m. to begin the first part of my two-part split shift. Ahh, the life (or lack therof) of a small newspaper person.

I worked from 8-noon to do one newspaper, then again from 8-12:30 a.m. to do another paper, then had an hour-long drive home.

I do that, too, except I have only a block walk, rather than a long drive. I've been known to work into the wee hours, as many QLCers can attest.

when the boses are not around !???I used to work nights in a 24x7 network operation, and was at school most of the day. My ex (who was not my ex at the time obviously) and I hardly ever got to see each other during the week and we were in that honeymoon stage of the relationship where you can't keep your hands off each other. She made a lot of late night visits to my office. I was a network engineer, but on the night shift you were required to monitor a lot of other things (electrical systems, fire systems, security systems, etc.). With my knowledge of the building floorplans, security camera implacements, security guard walkthrough schedules and completely unhindered access to every room in the building (including the CEO's office and private bathroom complete with shower), I knew exactly where and when there was no chance of getting caught. Still there was that added taboo of doing it in the workplace that made it that much hotter for both of us. That and my office was on the 43rd floor of a modern glass and steel skyscaper looking out over the city.
