average college CC debt

Does anyone know what the current statistics are for the average amount of debt college students carry? I have about 5000 on two low-interest cards...feeling pretty bad about that, but in the next year I'll get it down some.

I think I read somewhere that the average college student graduates with $4K in debt, or something close to it. Hard for me to fathom.

I've read that the average college student graduates with approximately $1800 worth of credit card debt. But it's really hard to say - I myself have about $10,000 (eek!) but many of my friends don't even have credit cards, and the couple of them that do have balances of less than $1000.

I have a little under $3,000 in credit card debt, and I went to a private liberal arts school, so I wound up with about $20,000 in debt to them, my monthly student loan bill is about $181!! It's tough!
