I aggree. There is no distance on the internet. We should set up a time to chat in the chat room. Perhaps a week or so notice would be good. Let me know what you think!
I think that would be cool. It would be interesting to talk to people that are going through similar things as me. When were you thinking?

Well how about Sept. 18 (Tuesday) at 9:00 (EST). How would that work for all of you??
chat sounds good. i just came to this site today and was surprised to see somany canadians. I'm in Hamilton right now. recently graduated (3 weeks now). 23. female. looking for a job. looking to move to Ottawa. hoping like crazy to find a job soon to get away from home. (it's impossible to live with your family again when you've been away for 5 years). it's been so great reading all these posts today. i felt like i was the only one who didn't have a clue where my life was going. all my friends are computer geeks and had job offers months before graduation. maybe i'm just slacking because i'm afraid of being stuck in a job i hate (had too many bad co-op experiences). look forward to the chat.

I have just recently picked up the book and have been ecstatic ever since. I think it is so important to start getting together to talk about this. I've been freaking out for the last two years thinking I was the only one who flet a complete lack of control over my life. This is something we don't talk about enough and yet, now that I've read the book, I know that all of my friends and peers are going through a similar experience.
I am in Ottawa and would like to team up with someone to organize a group. I feel this is an important network to establish--both personally and professionally. Any interest out there?

Hey everyone!
I just found out that we could set up a community on www.msn.com, that way several people could enter a chat room at the same time to talk. YOu would need set up an id with msn or ifyou have a hotmail account, you could use that as your nick on msn community?
We could set up a time to meet in msn later.
sounds good?

hey...
i already set up a community called "QLC support group in Canada". Go to http://communities.msn.com/home and search for the above community name. When directed to the community, on the left hand side of the page, click on chat. Then we'll be able to talk there.
So what time is the best to meet up?

I'm thinking after work time frame, around 5:30-6:00. Any night except Friday.

Hi Miserable
How about a later time, such as 9 pm? I am suggesting this because it takes me 1 hour to get from work which ends at 5, as I think most of us do, so I don't think we be able to make it in time...

Hi Everyone,
I've just created an account on this site. My brother recently bought QLC, and we both are devouring it. I'm actually moving back to Ottawa from TO to write my MA thesis, and I think it would be great to meet up with some QLC'ers from time to time.
Does the Ottawa group currently do this? I know that there is an MSN chat group, but I'm really a techno peasant and happy to stay that way...is anyone keeping a master/mistress list of all the Ottawa QLC'ers?
Cheers!

I don't know if there's a list of people in certain areas. I tried to go to the msn thing, but it keeps saying that there's no such group

Hey all;
Is there room for one more Canadian on the MSN board? I'm in downtown Toronto (for now) going to university (again), but I'm originally from a tiny farming village (pop. 20) in Manitoba.
Has anyone else here moved to Toronto from somewhere else? I've lived in bigger, busier cities, but there's just something about Toronto--it just seems like everything is completely backwards to the rest of the world. Just buying toilet paper at the grocery store tonight took 25 minutes--and the store still didn't sell it to me!
I'm lookin' forward to meeting and chatting with y'all

Yah I hear ya about the work, atleast on the island... is over there really that much better??
funky flamingo
02-06-2005, 03:28 PM
I tried for 6 months on the Island to get a job- 6 months of unemployment and going to giant resume fairs with 1,000 people vying for 150 minimun wage jobs- I moved back in with my parents and everything- so I moved to Ontario. I was offered a p/t job the day after I arrived, with requests for other interviews, and had a full time job at $12/hr within the week!
Jobs are easy to find in T.O., but the people... that's a whole other story. Try pointing out the recycling bins in your building and see what people say!

I went to see it, it's very interesting. However, it's a special exhibition and it's not for free on any time. If you do decide to go, make sure you wear extra comfortable shoes, because the concrete floor would kill you. I could barely walk after standing for so many hours on that floor.

Hi J-girl,
You guys already met? <crying> I always miss out on the good stuff...
Did you see bodyworlds 2
You mean the exhibit at the Ontario Science Centre, right? I don't think I'm going to see that one. The concept really freaks me out. I admit that it looks very interesting and is educational, but it's too much of an anatomy class for my taste. I don't think I'll be able to handle it for long....
How many GTA'ers came? also how many of us are there on these boards?
J-girl
01-06-2006, 09:56 AM
Leto- there were only three of us. Three women!!!
There are about 4-5 of us. I think there are more from other parts of Canada than here!
As for Bodyworlds 2 exhibit, I might be going this weekend with my sister. Apparently its not as morbid as it sounds.
