I am 25 year old, living in the suburbs of Philadelphia with the parentals. My situation is a bit different than other recent graduates because after high school I worked full time for five years as a medical secretary. At 21 years old, I knew I did not want to be a secretary for the rest of my life, so I decided to go back to school. I completed my undergrad degree in three years. I lived at school for one year and loved it! The three years went so fast I barely feel like I was there. I am in the full time work force again... and I am feeling the same frustation I felt at 21. I thought a degree would be the answer to my prayers, it's not. My job is unchallenging as my secretarial job was. I have no idea what to do. Go back for my MBA or keep moving forward in this cloud of uncertainty? I need an answer. Can anyone help?

Take it from me...only go back for your MBA if you are sure that you want to work in Corporate America. If desk work is not your thing, then an MBA is probably not for you. I went back for my MBA immediately after undergrad (because I wasn't ready to leave the academic environment yet and because an MBA is extremely lucrative), but now that I've been working for 2 years in the business field, I realize that Corporate America is not for me, no matter how much money I'm making. I make well over $70,000 a year, and I fanatasize about quitting on a daily basis. I am now preparing to go back to school and pursue a Master of Education since teaching is what I've always wanted to do--even though I'll probably make half the salary I'm making now. Also, you need to be aware that this not exactly the best time to enter the job market in the Business field. Companies are downsizing left and right.

Skim through the Wall Street Journal on a daily basis for about two weeks. If you find that you don't care about anything in there or find it boring and not your thing, then don't bother getting an MBA. On the other hand, if you find it intriguing and enjoyable, go for the MBA.
