Okay, I live with two roommates. Their lease expired exactly one hour and ten minutes ago. One moved out a month and a half ago. The other, Marko, was supposed to move out yesterday, because one of my future roommates, Serena, who's moving in from St. Louis, was supposed to move out today.
Well, last night I get home around 7:00, and all of Marko's belonging are still scattered all over the apartment. His room still has all of his furniture in it. By 9:00, he still hasn't come into the apartment. Brian, the guy who started subletting from my other roommate in July, comes home, and tells me that Marko said he was moving out his furniture in the morning. I go ballistic, because Serena's supposed to move in that day, and had delayed moving into the apartment so that she could move in when Marko's stuff was completely out, so that she wouldn't have to dump her stuff in the living room and then wait to move into her bedroom when Mark was out.
So, fit to be tied, I call Marko, and he's all, "relax, relax, I'm on my way up." He arrives with his brother, and they sit for an hour eating and smoking, doing nothing that looks like moving out of an apartment. Marko tells me he's waiting on a truck to be available tomorrow and will move out then.
Well, part of what complicates this is that Serena is supposed to stop by my office in the morning to get a set of keys from me. Marko told me a couple days ago he had a spare set, so I didn't go out and make another set. Originally, Marko was supposed to give them to her when she moved in on Tuesday, but since she decided to delay, I left a note on Marko's door Wednesday morning asking him "to leave the spare set of keys on the kitchen counter so I could give them to Serena tomorrow." Well, he says he'll give the keys to Serena and chides me for not being more specific in my note.
So, I've promised Serena she can move in tomorrow at 11:30, and she's going to come here and find Marko still moving out, and not be able to move in. And this after everything we've put her through with this lease situation--still unresolved, I might add, we don't even know how long we're really going to be able to stay here.
God--this is all just so like Marko! He's been like this the whole time we've lived together. He waits until the last possible minute to do things, and then does them in a way that inconveniences everyone else around him. Tonight, he finally notices a ConEd bill--the ConEd bill is in is name, mind you--that's been sitting around on our kitchen table for a week and asks me to pay it. Then he knocks on Brian's door for Brian's share of the ConEd bill. Brian is asleep, as he has to be up early for work the following day (Brian usually works the night shift). Brian doesn't answer. Marko then gets really pissy about Brian not answering.
Thank God, I am not living with this person again after tomorrow. He's a nice enough guy, but leaving all these kinds of things to the last minute drives me up the wall!!!
