View Full Version : Sucks to be Sick

We all know how hard all this quarter life crisis crap is...and sooner or later i think we're all bound to know how much more it sucks to be sick on top of it. Maybe this can be a good place to whine and moan about that...anything from long tern illnesses that keep you out of work or your social lives, to getting a really bad cold and a really inopportune time.

Here's my own issue at the moment. Wisdom teeth hurt. Finally caved and had them looked at. Found out they're all impacted, growing in such a place and direction as to pose the highest risk and most complications...of losing the teeth next to them also, of losing the feeling in my lower lip and chin...stuff like that. And the bottom two were infected to despite no dental insurance they kinda have to come out. I paid $200 to find that out and found out it will take $2OOO to operate. Ten minutes later i got back to work and got fired. THEN as i am feeling thoroughly put down and hopeless in my poverty and my fruitless job search, i get really ill. The friggin tooth infection spread to my throat and got into my system and my neck glands are swollen and i have a sore throat and a horrible cough...my armpit glands are even swollen! My teeth started it and now i cant lift my right arm and i htink that's pretty ridiculous. I'm on massive antibiotics and antiinflammatories and painkillers and extra athsma meds until my surgery next week. Imagine what wonders this is all doing for the job search and my social life and my state of mind!

Anyone know what that's like?

Sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth hell. I just had all 4 of mine removed on August 20th (if you want, you can see all the similar stories people have told on my "wisdom teeth surgery" thread on the Life forum). Several of mine were impacted. The surgery itself was a snap, but the residual pain sucks. The good part is they give you heavy duty pain meds that make you forget you HAVE a mouth.

I'm actually still dealing with a little bit of pain now, but I'm only taking ibuprofen for it 2 or 3 times a day. In the end, it's all manageable.

I'm sorry to hear...I have had some serious tooth troubles myself. Hang in there!
