...just buy a little dog that cannot sit still and finds it impossible to resist the urge to jump all over guests causing them to either (a) not want to ever come back, (b) get up and leave immediately, or (c) somehow think less of you as a person.
I hate small dogs. Shoot me.
How do even spell chiwawa? Ah, fuck it, who cares.

Chihuahua?
I hate small dogs, too. Actually, I hate all dogs. I have a dog phobia. I would not even BE in a house where a dog of any size was allowed to run free; that's how phobic I am.
Only dogs I don't have a problem with are Seeing Eye dogs because they are virtually guaranteed not to bother me at all.

This dog tonight...OH MY GOD!!!
There was a moment where I thought of a mass hole with fire and a dump truck dumping all these little annoying dogs into it!!!
Of course I wouldn't ever support something so cruel, but for a moment there...
I felt like Hitler.

And let me take a wild guess.... the owners had no empathy for the obvious discomfort of the houseguests, right? "BECAUSE ISN'T WITTLE RUFFY-SCRUFFY SO CUTESY?? AWWW... HE'S JUST SAYING HI! HE'S JUST HAPPY TO MEET YOU! AREN'T YOU, MY PRECIOUS RUFFY-SCRUFFY? MY WITTLE CUTESY WOOTSY!"

LOLOL...that was hilarious.
Not quite that bad...
At one point, the owner asked the dog, "Do you need to go outside"? The dog barked a little. Then I said..."I think he said yes".
Felt good.

LOL- Gee, maybe the owner should've asked the dog its opinion on the war in Iraq. :p :googly:

Well if the small dog is not stupid or yappy I do not mind. Then again I prefer bigger dogs. However if someone clearly has a dog phobia, we keep him in a room with toys and things to amuse himself.
Hey talking to your doggie is part of the fun! Yes he does say things to me that are significant. Whats that boy?! Oh you want that piece of meat? Oh.... Frisky fellow, frisky fellow!!! :p

Honestly a big reason I don't have people over often is because my dog is a big attention whore. I know that many people don't go for that. It's also a good thing he has been trained since being a puppy that his crate is a good thing, and he goes right to sleep in it. The crate comes in very handy when I go to my parent's or some place else and he is getting rambunctious. Just because I love my dog like he is my child, doesn't mean other people do (unfortunately). I also become a big wreck when he gets all wild, and people are like "don't worry about it" because how can you not?

I'm totally a cat person. I can take or leave dogs, but I REALLY don't like it when big dogs jump on me. And I hate slobber!

I'm getting rid of my cat - The idiot has started pissing in my sun room on top of the couch against the wall - what the F?
Why did this start? What do I do? Litter box is clean. I put the damn cats face in it - send it to the litter box - still is doing it.
I cant have this!

You put the cat's face in it? That is kind of disturbing to me. Try taking your cat to the vet. He probably has a UTI.

I've actually heard that's what you're supposed to do when your cat pisses in places where it shouldn't. That way, the cat will learn that's not cool.

I really intensely dislike about 9 out of 10 small dogs. I only care for large dogs. And I don't think I will ever own a cat, though we had farm cats growing up.

The nature of this particular post is really upsetting to me, especially because I am a pet lover. I have been frustrated myself, because Skylar has gone through this. I took him to the vet however, several times, and learned he has a urinary tract disease. He has to eat special food now. He still has problems every now again, thankfully, he goes in the same spot on a piece of tile so I can easily clean it up. I think that it is common sense to take a pet to a vet before you decide to get "rid of it". I personally think that "rubbiing a pet's face in it's own feces" is abusive. Everything I have read for responsible pet ownership frowns on this kind of behavior.

Yeah, I agree.
My mom was the one who told me about rubbing the cat's face in its pee when it goes where it shouldn't, but I don't think she ever did that.

The only time I can understand giving a pet away is if there is a behavioral issue, such as it is attacking another animal in the household. I also would never take my pets to a kill-shelter. I think that many people think pets are all cute and cuddly, especially when they are babies, but the novelty wears off after awhile, especially if they have costly health problems. Pets are definately like children. I have said it before and said it again, think long and hard before you make this type of committment of getting a pet. And it's not always easy to just "get rid" of a pet. Especially a cat. Shelters have their fill of cats, and most often will not take anymore.

I'm not abusing the cat I thought it was a trick if you show them what they did was wrong and place it where its suppose to go it would sometimes fix the problem.
I kind of got stuck with this cat as it was an ex-girlfriends. I like cats and all but I cant have it destroying my house. The smell of cat piss is just not right.

I disagree. Owning a pet is just as much responsibility as having a child. The cost, the concern about looking after them. You are really starting to irritate me with your posts and your PM's. Knock it off. There are other message boards you can go to if your life is that miserable you want to try to stir up shit on the boards.

Well, if you are not a pet owner, you are obviously going to have that view. However, you don't have to be disrespectful to those of us who do own pets, and do feel that way. Maybe you were just as annoying to the people who had you over as their dog was to you ;).

This coming from someone else who doesn't like dogs. Sorry WB, but I call it like I see it. I've had more than one interaction with this dude, the last time I ended up just deleting the damn thread because I didn't feel like getting into a debate with him. I can understand that some people may not like pets, and that is their choice. There are many people on here who do, however, and this whole thread is making fun of that. I can respect people's choices, as you see in my initial post about a reason I don't often have people over. But I am also entitled to my opinion on this one.

Dude, WB, how can you be afraid of dogs? I mean, I get big dogs, I'm personally terrified of big dogs (and I grew up with dogs) but little dogs? You'd seriously be afraid of like a shih tzu? Hell, you could pick the dog up and throw it if it attacked you (not that I am in anyway condoning violence towards animals)
I would have a dog if I had an actual house and yard, but I personally couldn't leave a dog home alone all the time. On the days I have class, I leave at like 7:30 and don't get home until after 6 at night. (Or later depending on whether I need to study on campus or run errands.)
I've WANTED a kitty for a while now but I'm so paranoid that I'd do something wrong and kill it that I won't go to the animal shelter and get one.
I had fish but kept killing them, so now I'm paranoid about getting more fish and I dislike any sort of rodent, so I've limited myself to plants. Right now the closest thing I have to a pet is my gardenia. A gardenia makes a very good pet though, doesn't need to be walked, likes coffee just like I do, and when I leave it outside it seldom needs to be watered. Now the damn thing never blooms but that's another issue.

I DO like dogs, and I still don't see the OP's posts or subsequent posts to be offensive. Not everybody likes dogs. But he wasn't posting that they should be strung up on meathooks or anything like that. I don't think the thread is making fun of anything. It seems like the most potentiallly upsetting thing on the thread is the question of whether or not certain housebreaking methods for pets are humane...and that doesn't have anything to do with the OP.
Winney, mods are trying be very diligent about keeping offensiveness off the boards, but we're having a hard time seeing what's been so offensive, here.

Winney... come on, now. Be reasonable. You're now accusing me of being biased as a moderator because I happen not to like dogs? The fact is, led is entirely entitled to express his opinions as he has done so in this thread. Yes, you are entitled to yours as well, but you cannot call this thread "disrespectful" because you happen to disagree with it. I've seen nothing offensive about anything ledzeppelin has said here.
Also, you've told me your past interactions with him, and I don't see any problem with the things he has said in those interactions. But in the future, can you please not discuss these individual conflicts on the board? Save it for PMs to the mods.

My whole point about pets being like children is what Lily said. Some people's schedules just don't allow for it. It is a huge time committment having pets. I also as I mentioned, respect the fact that not everyone likes pets/dogs, like WB. I honestly don't like many other people's pets. It is different if you have your own and raise them since they were young. I am not one of those crazy animal hoarding people. And there are annoying people out there too who want to throw their pets all in your face. I respect peoples opinions for not being into that. I personally don't want people I don't know coming up and being all touchy-feely with my dog. Oh yeah, and the phobia thing, that needs to be taken seriously as well. There are so many sue-happy people in our society, that if my lil' ol pug just jumped on them, they could try to have a lawsuit. It's just not worth it.
