I don't know what is going on but I'm starting to freak out...the last few days my hair has been coming out in CHUNKS. It's been getting worse and worse every day. I've been doing nothing different, and I can't imagine I have any kind of vitamin deficiency; I eat really well. I've been researching it online, and a lot of sites have said that stress could lead to hair loss, but that's so weird and never happened before!

Maybe that's why I have no hair - I stress out too much!

WB is very confused. "Michelle has hair! She has hair!" he's saying to me. Do you just mean your hair is thin? Because you aren't bald! :p

My hair comes out in clumps when I brush it. It's been like that for years, and I still have lots of hair. I wouldn't worry too much, Taylor.

I am definitely going to go see a therapist ASAP. I have one I'm going to call tomorrow. I guess this was my wake-up call because it really scared me into realizing something is wrong. Anxiety and stress are bitches.

Oh, totally been there, Taylor, I had a time when I would wash my hair and so much would come out that I'd leave huge chunks in the drain.

And this was in the dorm.

The good news is that it usually grows back fine when your stress level decreases but yeah, hair falling out is a big warning sign that your body has had it's fill.

It's so crazy... At least it's not noticeable yet!

It can be hereditary, which is usually tied into hormones, stress related, medication related...

If you are in a coma for a long period of time, and on heavy doses of painkillers and/or sedatives, your hair may fall out. Poor Chris. He lost SO much after being SO sick.

Oh, I bet. That's awful. Did it take a long time for it to grow back?

Ummm, well some of it won't grow back, because he was starting to thin before the accident (thanks genetics!). But the meds and stuff made him lose it much faster.

Well, I don't think it's due to stress, but I have had tremendous hair loss since I was 19...it's so bad that I'm completely bald up front and in the middle...pretty sad for a 27 year old. I thought about hair replacement, but it's $20,000, which I don't have. I guess I learned to deal with it, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this may be why I'm having a lot of problems making friends...particular females.

One time when I was still in my grad school lab, one of my labmates didn't know I was in the room and he was speaking to his neighbor saying "what's his baldness up to"...needless to say, that didn't help my ego.

Well, I tried it when I was 22....it didn't really work, although I think in retrospect that I should have been more patient with it.

Lots and lots of younger guys have thinning hair/receding hairlines. One of the hottest guys I know is just about bald at 32. It's not a big deal to all women.

Jess is right, as long as you don't do the combover thing, most of us don't care.

Btw, unless you have an abnormally round huge head, shaving it down looks really hot on a lot of guys.

My BF looks great when he keeps his hair really short.

Oh, but you guys couldn't tell I was wearing a wig? :p

No I have hair, but it's so thin! My hair comes out in clumps too in the hairbrush - ick.
