What the hell? Doesn't Valentine's Day in all its drudgery cover the bases here? I'm glad it apparently hasn't really caught on...I've never even heard of it...

I'd really rather she remember arbour day. Or guy fox day.

Well, I never heard of such a holiday. If I had a girl friend, I highly doubt I'd celebrate this holiday. Perhaps if it was brought up as something celebrate, I'd try to make a joke of it and, use it as an excuse to get ice cream.

That's sounds like a great idea. It's never too cold for ice cream!

Ha ha ha... Hypothetical Situation: Your ex remembers Guy Fox Day and burns your bloody house down. :p Nah... I'd rather my ex forget that one.

As long as she remembers that March 15th is Steak and BJ Day.

I was also going to mention Steak and BJ day. My SO made sure to explain it to me. :)

As for Sweetest Day... I read somewhere that it started in the early 1900s as a day for shut ins and such. I personally don't expect anything. It's categorized with promise rings in my mind (no offense!).

I assured him that if my Valentine's Day was up to par, he would be getting an excellent Steak and BJ Day. :p

Now I just need to learn how to cook a perfect medium-rare steak by March 14...

Steak and BJ day is supposed to be your birthday.

(of course, I would be willing to settle for BJ and BJ day)

Can't it be both? :p

I think it's totally a hallmark driven holiday, but if the guy wants to get some bonus points, getting a card or flowers or somethign probably wouldn't hurt.

Ha! I am the sole "yes" vote.

I just like to celebrate. If it is an excuse to be taken out for dinner, then it's cool with me. I don't want a card, flowers or anything cheesy. Just an excuse for a romantic night out.

It's by definition a Hallmark holiday. It's one thing for them to cash in on previously existing holidays, it's another to invent them for revenue's sake.

But, don't listen to me. I'm the sort of person who's far more impressed by randomly doing cool things than confining them on socially mandated "event" days, real holiday or otherwise. I'd prefer something special out of nowhere.
