I'm trying to get better at guitar. Yet whenever I sit down to learn some new songs, I can't think of any to look up.

I know a bunch of Beatles, Indigo Girls, Barenaked Ladies, and a few Guster songs.

What should I learn?

What level are you at, Cole?

I've been playing for a few years - I can play most chords, finger pick etc. I can't solo or anything like that, but if I've got tabs in front of me I'm all good.

Haha! You sound like me! Have you checked out www.olga.net ?

When I'm in the playing mood, sometimes I'll just search the archives and pick out random stuff.

Some easy tunes to pick up : Cat Stevens and Beatles...then again, I'm kind of a classic rock/singer songwriter of the 70's junkie...but they do have TONS of great stuff on that site, if you haven't already checked it out.

Hey Cole...I've been playing a long long time. Well, about 16 years. I love it.

I would recommend...

Landslide...being female, I presume, this would be perfect for you if you sing.
All Along the Watchtower...Its just Am, G, F...over and over...get the rhythm, get the words, and you've got it.
Wish You Were Here...Pink Floyd.

Try these... :D

Guys like Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz make me want to learn to play guitar.

Eruption - Eddie VanHalen :D

Try Nothing Else Matters - by Metallica. I don't know shit about guitar but if my friend can play that one, anyone can.

Got that one down a while ago ;)

And yes, I use olga quite a bit. I just tend to get there and then don't know what to click on besides beatles and indigo girls.

Thanks for the ideas though, and keep 'em comin' - I sense a lot of nights alone with my guitar coming up.

Another Lonely Day--Ben Harper
Walk Away--Ben Harper
I'll Back You Up--Dave Matthews

These are good and not too hard...I'll Back You Up might is a bit of a challenge for a girl assuming you're hands aren't too big...but maybe they are huge.

You ever try to write?

Yeah... I've got a few. Though I have trouble finishing them.

I've got long fingers but smallish hands... I can reach about 4 frets.

Oh, I got Ben Harper down too... play a "c" chord and mess with it for awhile. You'll hit on at least one of his songs. :)

www.purevolume.com/hybridity

This is my old band...there are a few songs posted there. All the solos in Feel the Rhythm are played by me.

We almost "made it"...whatever the fuck that means.

Hey, that was one I was taught back in guitar lessons. Even the solo's pretty easy. What I'm struggling to work on now, Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb solo, is another story.

Foo Fighters are always good for some easy riffs. I've tried out a few of their tabs lately.
