I moved from a 4th floor apt, with a leaky roof, creepy landlord, even MORE creepy tenants, to this very funky basement pad. I love it. All of the people in the building seem very cool, friendly, and not ex-con types (like in my other place).

I only have one problem: the 5'4" 120lb chick that lives above me. Now, I'm NOT a tiny girl by ANY means, but my dad was ALWAYS on my case about "picking up [my] feet" when I walked. It used to piss me off as a teenager. Now, as an adult, I realize how many f---ing idiots walk like a goddamn elephant; including my neighbor who lives above me.

I'm definitely a shuffler...and at 5'2" and just over 100 lbs., I sound like a herd of goats nearing the city trash heap. I mean it, I am LOUD  It's a wonder my roommate puts up with it...

Just don't be the psychotic bitch who once lived downstairs from me, who came up and informed me that I should really consider not walking around after 9 p.m.

I prefer to only live on top floors. I like downstairs neighbors more than upstairs.

I know, I know....it's being petty, but I wanted to scream when she was pounding away at 5am this morning.

She's kind of the only bitch (Ivy league alumni stickers on her car, extremely snooty, daddy's BMW, etc) in my building, which likely isn't helping with my annoyance.

5 a.m. pounding is loatheworthy.

What the hell was she pounding? That sounds really odd.

Edit: I'm leaving this up for proof of my stupidity. "What was she pounding?" Good god, next time I say something like that, somebody slap me

She just walks with a heavy foot. Like instead of walking lightly, she's all "pound, pound, pound, pound" and I'm all "AAAAAAAAAA! STOP THE INSANITY! I'M SLEEPING FOR ANOTHER HOUR!"

There. She just did it again.

I used to have an apartment where I could hear the guy above me snoring :googly: .

Um, that would be me. Except for us, our upstairs neighbor was doing unbalanced loads of laundry well after midnight and then getting up at 5 AM and pounding around like a herd of elephants. We'd been living in the same apartment for two years and the first two tenants over us were fine - I could hear them but it wasn't bothersome...then this lady moved in and I kid you not, I woke up on more than one occasion to find that paint chips had fallen off the ceiling onto our bed as we slept, and one day our bathroom mirror fell off the wall as she walked overhead. I did wait two months before I actually said anything to her, by that point I was so sleep-deprived that my performance at work was starting to decline. I tried to be really polite and asked her if she could just try to be quieter between midnight and 6 AM, but she was really defensive about it, so we ended up getting management to let us move to a top floor unit in the same building. I sleep SO much better now!

The last apartment I had, there was a girl who lived above me; she had about 5 kids, and I shit you not, those fuckers would jump off their furniture and onto the floor and laugh their asses off about it for kicks. It was pure hell during the summer, because they would start at about 6 am, and keep going until like 2 in the damn morning. Then they started throwing eggs at my windows. It might have had something to do with me being the only skinny, honky white guy living in the ghetto. I didn't really care, all I ever wanted was to just get some sleep.

That's SO not the same as telling someone that they should call it a night at 9 p.m.
