I had two brothers, so they outranked me on TV. Therefore, I watched a lot of He-Man, Thundercats, Superfriends, and G.I. Joe, not so much Care Bears, Jem, or Barbie and the Rockers. We did watch Looney Tunes, and Chipmunks, though, so it wasn't all "boy" specific cartoons.

He-man (though I had to stop watching it when I had nightmares of skeletor)

Transformers!!! I am still a Transformers nerd to this day. Love'em!

Other cartoons I enjoyed as a kid...

Smurfs
Looney Tunes
Garfield
Heathcliff
Fat Albert
Inspector Gadget
Macross
Voltron
He-Man
M.A.S.K.
Lazer Tag
G.I. Joe
Lone Star
Go-Bots

Man, it was either for a couple hours each day after school, or else it was waking up early on Saturday morning and occupying the television until noon!

And later as a teenager I could not resist...

Tiny Toons
Animaniacs
Pinky & The Brain (spinoff from Animaniacs)
Beavis & Butthead

The thing is I STILL watch cartoons...

FUTURAMA!!!
Family Guy
Simpsons
King of the Hill
American Dad (sometimes funny, sometimes not)
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Squidbillies
Drawn Together
South Park

Let's face it... Unless we're talking about History Channel, Discovery Channel or ESPN, cartoons are by far the best thing on television.

It seemed like my cousin and I watched cartoons as long as they came on. We'd wake up at 6:00 am just to watch cartoons, when we came home we watched cartoons until the 5pm news came on. I think I have everybody trumped.

Fat Albert
Thundarr the Barbarian
The Mighty Orbots
The Go-Bots
All of the Filmation cartoons (If you look at them now you'll see how crappy they really were)
Bravestarr
Flash Gordon
He-man
She-ra
Sabre Rider and the Star Sherrifs
Galaxy Rangers
Popeye
Woody Woodpecker
Mr Mcgoo
Rocky and Bullwinkle
M.A.S.K.
C.O.P.S
Captain N
The Smurfs
The Snorks
The Biscuits
G-Force
Starblazers
Speed Racer
GI-JOE
Transformers
Silverhawks
Voltron (the lions and the cars)
Grimm's Fairytales (On HBO)
Seven Cities of Gold
Spartacus
Pole Position!! (I wanted that blue car soooo bad)
Dungeons and Dragons
Captain Planet
All of the Disney cartoons

Adolescent Cartoons:
Exo-Squad
Dark Water
X-men....
then I really discovered anime.

Funny, because She-Ra is actually not all that unlike Xena: Warrior Princess, which is definitely on the gay side.

Inspector Gadget
Heathcliff
Alvin & The Chipmunks
Bugs Bunny
Garfield & Friends
Muppet Babies
Smurfs
Jetsons
Flinstones
Snorks
Q*bert/PacMan/Donkey Kong/Saturday Supercade

I never got into the "boys" cartoons like T-cats, Voltron, or even He-Man or Transformers, although I had the toys.

BTW...am I the only one my age who remembers Schoolhouse Rock?

Phew! I still watch cartoons too. :) And yes cartoons are the best thing on tv hehe.

I suggest if you still like watching cartoons, to check The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy on Cartoon Network. Has some ren and stimpy qualities to it. I honestly don't understand why it isn't on later at night, because there are a ton of adult references.

I still laugh myself stupid whenever I watch old school Looney Tunes.... The Golden Collection volumes 1 and 2 are a must.
I still can't get over how many suicide/homacide references are in the older uncut cartoons.

THe M.A.S.K. is that with the little toys were you can rub the holograms on the chest & itll reveal fire or water. i couldnt remember the name of them but that show was kool too Wasn't that something else? I seem to be forgeting which cartoons were which....

I don't think so, I can't remember what they were called, but did you know those little animal guys were actually part of the transformers line in japan? They changed the symbols to earth elements for the US because they figured americans would find transformers that had nothing to do with transformers lame.

oh yea i bought an original DEVASTATOR toy from back in the day off of ebay recently. its still in the box too. ive been lookin for SOUNDWAVE.

"Soundwave superior, Constructicons inferior"

They did a "reprint" of soundwave not too long ago, so that shouldn't be too hard. Soundwave was one of my first eBay purchases years ago though. It was like $200 and he came with all of this cassettes.

My collection suffers from a serious lack of STARSCREAM.

i need to watch the remake of the old movie they came out with

Haha... A Transformers fandom hijacking in progress!!!

My favorite was Skyfire/Jetfire. A couple years ago I had to spend the extra coin on eBay to get the minty fresh Matsushiro Jetfire. This is the one with the Macross emblem mistakenly left on the wing (the toy was borrowed from the Macross line in Japan before it was released as Robotech over here causing all sorts of legal hell). It's sort of like a baseball card with a misprint or a coin with tales reversed to collectors of those two things. I just HAD to have it, and it is the pride and joy of my personal collection.

I've never really been into Transformers that turn into beasts, starting all the way back with the Dinobots and Insecticons. The Cassetticons were an exception because their robot modes were animals rather than their alt modes (tapes). My reasoning is that the whole point of the Transformers was that they were robots in disguise. A robot disguises pretty well as a Lamborghini Countache or an F-15 Eagle or anything else inanimate and mechanical by nature. A robot does not disguise very well as a shiny, metallic T-rex or a ginormous grasshopper. My suspension of reality only goes so far.

Ya, with you on that one. maybe it's because i'm a machinery junkie. i make an exception for maybe the dinobots, just because

After reading this thread I acutally took a look at ebay today. wow they've got lots of the remakes now! I'd have to go with either starscream or hound. Looks like the going rate for any of them is about $50

Oh, and Macross! Well, I of course knew it as Robotech. Had those all on tape at one point. That was a great show. My favorite was actually the third series "the new generation".

Oh, and Macross! Well, I of course knew it as Robotech. Had those all on tape at one point. That was a great show. My favorite was actually the third series "the new generation".Robotech totally sucked because they mashed together three completely different Japanese cartoons and used the English dubbing to loosely connect them into one story line. The first series (a.k.a. The Macross Saga) was, of course, based on Super Dimension Fortress Macross, one of the greatest anime series of all time. The third series (a.k.a. The New Generation) was based on Genesis Climber MOSPEADA, and it was, in its own right, a great cartoon (LOVE the variable ride armor). The second series (a.k.a. The Robotech Masters) was based on Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, which sucked badly enough before it was altered to be connecting fodder between Macross and Mospeada. Left out was Super Dimension Century Orguss, but none of the "Super Dimension" cartoons actually had anything to do with each other except that they shared design staff and the same time slot on television.

Thanks ;) I actually knew all that. Ya they really strung together those three plots with thread... but all in all it was fun. They were all fun enough to watch.

I have seen some of the "macross" sequals.... those got just plain weird.Yeah, like Macross 7. I could never get into it, but it's got a pretty rabid cult following. Macross II sucked, too, except for the design of the VF-2SS (one of my favorite mecha of all time). But then there was the Macross Plus OVA and movie version, which kicked extreme ass! That battle between the YF-19 and the YF-21 is just gorgeous! I've been enjoying Macross Zero lately, too.

Deadend
10-24-2005, 01:49 PM
Macross Plus is the only anime I ever bought on DVD actually.... The plot was semi-decent, but mostly it's just great eye candy.

Is Macross 7 the one that revolves around a rock band or something?

Mad Dawg
10-24-2005, 11:25 PM
Yeah, that's Macross 7. All fear the mighty Japanese pop rock band of the future... Who apparently get to fly around doing battle in state of the art military hardware.

If you think Macross Plus is eye candy, you should check out Macross Zero. Waiting patiently for Yamato to release the VF-0.
