Does anyone listen to them here? If so, I'd LOVE a link to a site that explains Jeff's freakin' lyrics.

I like them (Illinois represent)! But I like the songs that don't evidence being utterly high the best.

Great band. I used to work for a poetry press (currently based out of Omaha, NE; based out of Lincoln, NE at that time) that ended up publishing a collection of Jeff Tweedy's poems. (It's called Adult Head, and you can find it at www.zoopress.org) I don't know if that will help explain his lyrics, but it might give you a glimpse at another side of Jeff's writing...
Edit: I replaced "lyrics" with "poems." I got to thinking about your question re: lyrics, Steamroller, and wrote that in, when I meant to write "poems."

I guess it's just the English major in me that can dig a lyric like, "Talk of Love, pure bug beauty/Curl my lips/ and crawl up to you....
Hummingbird also has some pretty interesting lyrics.
Thanks for that info, E. I'll check that out. I know he's a little nutty, but I REALLY like Jeff's jabberwocky lyrics.

I love them! I can't offer too much insight into their lyrics, though.
