i just found out the guy I am dating bought me an ipod for christmas. Now, trust me I am not complaining. He knows that I would love to have an ipod, the thing is he also knows that I can't afford to get him anything really nice for christmas. I feel like crap. Honestly, I don't even think he can really afford to buy me an ipod, but its already done.

Now the only reason I know this is becsuse I told him a week or so ago not to buy me anything because I just couldn't afford to buy him anything. He has been talking to my roommate about the fact that he already has it and really wants to give it to me. Another friend of mine was out with me and my roommate last night and made a comment about him not being able to find one. I said that it was a good thing because I had said not to get me anything. my roommate looked at me and said, he already has it.

ugh! I don't know what to do.... I guess my real question is, what is something nice that I can get him that isn't really expensive, but he will enjoy. I can shuffle a few things around and be able to afford around $50.00.

I say buy him anything he might have expressed interest in even if it's considersably less than $50. But then I would also make him some type of baked goods. I'm a sucker for christmas sugar cookies and/or chocolate chip cookies. I think he would really appreciate the gesture.

Wallet? i don't know i've always thought of wallets like a girls purse. I wouldn't want him to pick a purse out for me
Stylish, warm sweater? he could definately use that, but he's picky about textures

A book he's dying to read, along with a couple other little gifties? he doesn't read much, but he does watch alot of tv, maybe a season box set
A videogame/CD box set/DVD box set that he desperately wants but can't justify purchasing for himself? he likes 3 doors down alot
A magazine subscription? hes planning on moving that would just be a pain to transfer

What are his interests? Is he outdoorsy? Does he have a particular hobby? hes a mechanic, no obvious hobbies, not really all that outdoorsy either

just a note, wallets are not like purses. Guys tend to value function over style... and since the thing sees his ass more than the light of day... as long as its "nice looking" - and you know what that means TO HIM... you'll score a winner (and maybe he'll score too...lol)

Yeah, seriously. Whenever I've been given a wallet, I've just been happy because it's a free wallet, and by the time someone buys me one my old wallet is usually really a mess.
