ok this isn't exactly fun but didn't know where else to post as it's not directly related to the qlc. i just wanted to spread the word, for those of you who remember the summer 16 years ago as vividly as i do...plan your vacations now! i plan to take a sabbatical next summer and stay with my sister in england. i don't know if this is just an east coast plague or around the country, but it's disgusting, you cannot walk one square foot without being hit by one of these things! allow me to refresh your memory...

Ewwww...I remember that. I was 5 or 6. All of our trees died. Soooo gross.

Thanks for the PSA, Abby! :)

I always thought they were fun. Especially as a kid. They are slow and easy to catch. Near the end they fly low and bop you on the head, but thats the only time where it was annoying. They follow you when you mow the grass too. Theres a "wrath of god" quality to it which I love. Plague of Locusts! Holy $hit! Chaos is pretty fun sometimes.

Ok maybe Im crazy.....but cicadas are the things that sing in late July and into August.....
They make the buzzing.....to find a mate.
Those things live underground as grubs for 16 YEARS!

I think the "plague" you are referring to must be Locusts.....which are just plain ol grasshoppers....that are bigger than what you usually find in your backyard.

Ok my thoughts! =)

right, yeah just using the term 'plague' figuratively ;)
(to mean that they come back in such huge numbers every 17 years..)
