Am I just getting old, or is it a little ridiculous to call someone during the middle of the week at 10pm to go out? I mean, I'm flattered that people want to hang out with me enough to invite me, but isn't that a little retarded?

Yes, you're getting old. Live a little! :p

So with work beckoning at 9am tomorrow, there are people who'd jump up at 10pm, get dressed, and head down to the bar?! This does not compute in my prematurely old mind!

I would go to the diner with a friend for a late dinner at 10pm, but not to a bar.

well it is nice to have some notice. if someone called me at 10 pm most likely i'd be in my pj's with my makeup off. my brother in law is the type to do this. he'll just call up out of the blue and think you'll wanna go out 11 at night.

I guess I'm getting old too. Usually by 10pm I'm already dress for bed, not to go out. If I'm out during the work week, I usually go straight from work and stay out til about 9 or 10 and I'm usually at work between 7 and 8. About three years ago, that was another story. LOL.

I can see that getting such a short notice that late would be uncommon. But as for going out during work nights and staying past midnight...I do that from time to time. It's usually when my friends and I go out of town to watch a game.

Its not that uncommon or odd. Sometimes people have other obligations after work (sports groups, meetings, errands) and after they want to grab a drink and call who they think might be around.

I get calls every so often to head out to the bar at 10.......though typically Im not in my PJs until Im actually climbing into bed.....and I dont take my makeup off until Im brushing my teeth...all which happens after I get into my PJs.

Just this past Monday I was playing phone tag with a friend, and we finally connected around 915....Id been at the mall hed been running errands and we met up around 1015 to grab a drink.....stayed till close at 1am and then headed home.

TO me, it's one thing to be out already for happy hour or something and be out well past 10, but it's another to start my night at 10 on a weeknight.

Same here. My friends have learned to call me earlier in the evening if they want me to go out. I'll go out at 10 p.m. during a weeknight, no problem, but if I'm already lounging in a state of comfort in bed, then hell no. :)

I rarely recieve calls (or make calls) past 10pm much less accept invitations to go out. It usually takes me an hour and half to wind down after going out so if I do stay out late on a weeknight, it is planned well in advance with full knowledge of how much pain I'm going to be in the next morning :)

Exactly! I think its rude to call up on the spur of the moment and expect someone to be ready to go out at this time.

Also at one time (teens and early 20's) we used to be just starting the evening at this time. Nowadays, we go out much earlier!
