In the course of switching jobs almost 6 months ago, my income also switched to about 1/2 of what I was making. I'm starting to think about getting some type of part-time job for a few hours a week (my goal is to pay off my car loan asap! Also hoping it might help meet people socially)
I'd appreciate any ideas on good paying part-time jobs! (not minimum wage, & ideally, not a situation where I'd be working with all high school-aged kids!) thanks!

Okay, so no Starbucks, no chain clothing stores...
What about small boutiques that are looking for more responsible employees because they cater to a higher-end clientle? I worked for an upscale stationery store that did a lot of custom printing orders. Or a bookstore, like Barnes and Noble? They look for educated people because they have a variety of interests and know lots of different things.
My suggestions...don't know how good they are!

How about a card or gift store, like Hallmark's? Or a flower shop. If you're willing to deal with the stress, maybe bartending or waitressing at a cafe. (Although I think you have to take a course to bartend...)
Good luck!

i work in cust. service and the job isn't that great(very stressful) but the money isn't bad. my company starts people out at 9.50/hour and you get a raise every 6 months for the first 3 years or so. might be worth looking into if you just need an extra job for a year or so. hope this helps!! :) -meri
