Just catching up on the posts here & I thought of a couple ?s.

1. Has anyone ever tried speed dating/8-minute dating? I've heard of it before and thought it sounded kind of fun and low-pressure, but never knew anyone who'd tried it. If anyone has...please share!

2. Does anyone have any fun date "nightmares"...dates gone wrong...that would give us a good laugh? Since I posted this...I'll try to think of something too!

hey bec-i've never tried speed dating, but i heard it's not that great. :( however, you may want to try it anyways (at least once) just to form your own opinion. i luckily have not been on that many "bad" dates but i have dated way too many losers! (not enough time to share now...) hope this helps!! -meri

Hey Bec,

I have done 8 minute dating a couple of times. On the positive side it is fun night out and you meet and talk to about 8 other people you would not have met otherwise. There is not too much pressure - though you only have 8 minutes to have conversation. The first time is kind of ackward but it becomes easier afterwards.

From my experience the worst part of speeddating is after the event when I realize that wasn't selected by anyone.

I've never tried speed dating (it's not available in rural-ish areas, to the best of my knowledge), and I have no interest in driving an hour one way minimum to a series of 8-minute dates. But it sounds kind of fun. My old college roomie has done it and says it's fun. To quote her, "If there's zero chemistry, at least I'm out 8 minutes instead of a whole night."

My only really bad date wasn't really funny, it was sorta sad.

I met the guy through an online dating site, we e-mailed a bit, met for coffee, had an awesome time, talked for hours, blah, blah. He talked about how he might be getting downsized at his job, but said he wasn't worried, he had a lot lined up just in case. We met for pizza for a second date, and it was like he was a totally different person - irritable, rude, nasty to the server...I was embarrassed. Also, he had cancelled it at the last minute and rescheduled, and then was forty-five minutes late to meet me there. Turned out between the first and second date, he HAD lost his job, hence the freakout. I think he had a nervous breakdown. I never heard from him again. Ack.
