View Full Version : oh my god I need to see the sun
Anyone else struggle with getting way bummed out in the winter time/when it's gray and crappy out?
I've been super depressed the past few days and at first I thought it was from running into my ex last week. But my mom pointed out that it could very well be seasonal affective issues. (I hate to call it a disorder.) I haven't seen the sun since before Christmas, and it's getting to the point where I'm crying far too easily and struggling to get out of bed, much less having any motivation to go out with friends. I've been on downward spirlas of thought convincing myself that I have no friends, about my workplace, etx. It's like I'm back to sophomore-year Nicole. I haven't felt this way in three years; it's SO not fun.
I'm considering going tanning despite how much I think it's bad for you just to make myself feel better. bah.

Don't tan!!!! Get one of those lights that you spend 20 minutes a day in front of. That's what I did when I lived in New England. I had those issues too. (((((Cole))))

Lawya girl you're going to depress me. Didn't you know I'm trying to move to Boston.
I'm not sure how that's going to work for a Texas boy who loves the heat. I'm struggling in VA. But its all worth it in the end.
I must admit the only DREARY weather I like is when its raining and i can stay in the BED.

Well I'm a Texas GIRL who loves the heat and I lived in Boston for 8 years. I love the city but it is cold and very depressing in the winter.

I get really deperessed in the winter. Its dark when I go to work, its dark when I get off of work and its too cold for me to go walk around during lunch. Yuck.

My roommate had one of those in college. But they're expensive.
Besides, I already spend my entire day sitting under fluorescent lights.

Winter sunlight deprivation kills me...but it doesn't get really bad for me until Feb. I'm REALLY hoping that the trip to Austin gets me through.

I'm depressed because it is January and we are seeing record high temps down here in Texas. I've been wearing shorts and t-shirts. Meanwhile it has rained significantly only once since September and there is no rain in sight (late fall is our wet season), so the combination of warm temps, high winds and no rain has half the state ablaze with wildfires. This crap is supposed to happen to California.

You are getting the same drought we had months ago up here.

I so need to see some daylight - I saw a little this morning and it helped, I guess. I just need to move to warmer climate.

Yup...not seeing the sun most days except when I drive to work (when I get sun glare since I'm traveling east) sucks. I do sometimes go out to lunch, so at least I see daylight then.

I was thinking about going tanning, too. My skin doesn't really like that, though...

I would be bugged by the lack of sunlight but for the fact that is has been balmy in PA with highs in the low 40's. The warmer temps have gotten rid of the ice and make running a pleasant experience again. So the temps counteract the low light for me. I think January is the worst for me because by the middle of February the days are noticeably longer (especially for me who has to race home from work in January so I can get to the track and start my run before it is dark) and that helps me with the feeling that winter's days are numbered. I did get some sunlight driving into work Wednesday because I turned off my alarm and went back to sleep for another hour :p

I think we're going on day 15 of NO sunlight. I'm hitting the fake and bake beds if that sun doesn't pop out soon!

Ughhh I hear you Cole. I find it so hard to wake up every morning. Besides my throat is so dry and sore in the mornings. Yucky.

The other night I heard on the news that out of the past 30 days, 22 have been cloudy. :( I usually like cloudy/rainy days, but not when it's constant.
I'm definitely starting to feel it. Maybe a new computer wallpaper will help?
