So I have heat included in my rent (my ridiculously HIGH rent, I might point out) but the heater has never worked properly in my bedroom - last winter it didn't turn on when I moved in so I called and had it fixed - and it got so hot in there and I couldn't turn it down so I would have the windows open while it snowed. I couldn't take it.

So this winter when it didn't turn on AGAIN, I figured I'd just let it be because I can't sleep when I'm too hot and it's honestly fine during the day in there with the blinds open and the bedroom door open. Of course, that was until I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning because the room was so cold. (I can't sleep with the bedroom door open - it's a thing of mine.)

So tonight after work, I stopped by Target to pick up a space heater just to warm it up a little on the really cold nights. (Plus this morning it was 17 fucking degrees out.) Well, I picked out a nice one with a thermostat on it that adjusts to the temperature that you set it at and oscillates.

I get it home, I plug it in, it blows out warm air for three seconds and the display dims and it registers the room temp as 45 degrees. (Probably not that far off for my bedroom.) Grrr.

You would think with the fucking amount I pay in rent every month that I could at least be comfortable in my own fucking bedroom in the winter. And god damn it, why can't I buy something at Target and NOT have it break on the way home. The small TV I got for my bedroom (13" because I just wanted noise at night) broke on the way home and I had to take it back to get a new one.

Do they just like randomly KICK boxes at this damn Target or something? It's not like I was driving from fucking Sussex county with the stuff.

You could always get an electric blanket. :)

Actually I have one, but it's only a twin (from when I lived in the world's most frigid apartment). It sorta works because I spread it out over the top of my bed and it gives a little more warmth but I really could use a queen one to fit the bed. Hmm, maybe I'll just pony up and pick up a queen one when I return that stupid heater tomorrow.

My heating bill was $15 last month (I was only here for 14 days of it).

Get one of these, and you won't get very cold. (I actually use something like this, it's better than just having it sit in the closet.)

It is 58 degrees in here during the middle of the night. About 3 feet of the outside wall is underground, so the pipe's are down in the ground pretty deep. And the ceiling and one side have other people's apartments insulating them.
