Can't wait to do my taxes...it will be fun fun fun because I had not one, not two, not three, but FOUR count them FOUR jobs in 2005!!!!!!! Plus, I have to do state taxes for two states (NY and CT...fortunately FL doesn't have a state tax)

I haven't gotten mine yet, but M and I still have to file together to avoid penalties. As long as it goes the way of the past we should get a decent sum back.

That's right, IRS!! YOU OWE ME THIS YEAR BITCHES!!!You know, I am always as excited as you are... Right up until the moment I realize that it was my money to begin with, and that they've been holding it for me all this time when my bank could have been paying me to hold it.

That said... I owed them last year (to the tune of $3800), but this year they owe me. That does seem a little less stressful.

It will be interesting how it all plays out...I expect to get money back because I was in a higher income bracket but only for a few months, so my actual income for 2005 was much lower than that bracket would make it out to be. Plus, I get student loan interest and Lifetime Learning credits :) (I always seem to owe NYS, though...)

I usually get a FAT refund. I don't think employers have to get your W2s until the end of the month, so you have a few more weeks before you start worrying.

Heehee, I know, it's just that last year was the first time I ever owed them money. So it's nice to know I flipped that back around this year.

I'm voting to spend it on new clothes :)

I get money back just about every year. I had the mistake once of having to pay . And thanks to owning my condo and taking classes, i should get back a decent amount this year; all going towards some vacation :D, some shopping, and saving!

Man, we BES' be gettin' money back! We get to write off all the student loan interest, the continuing education credit, property taxes (which are a butt load), the mortgage interest stuff, and we've got our child deduction!!! Plus, I didn't work a full year, so my earnings were pissy. And Greg barely had a job last year!

Let me say though, this will probably be the last year we get money back. Next year, we are gonna be takin' it in azz cause of the "Alternative Minimum Tax". Oh well!

Oh I'm going to owe thousands because NIH sucks and won't take taxes out of my paycheck, and doesn't give me the info to figure out what I owe quarterly. The only thing saving me from having to make payments is the fact I bought a hybrid last year and am eligible for the $2000 deductible.

I just got a "reminder" from RI today...I don't think I worked there in 2005. Grrr.

Still haven't gotten my W2 from old crap job. I bet they're still waiting for their $23.50 or whatever that I supposedly owe them. Losers.

The HR dept at my old job emailed me to confirm my address out here. I already go my W2 form from my current job. I have a feeling that I'm going to end up owing. From what I hear from others that have moved out of California to another state, California screws you over with taxes and stuff. I don't know exactly how, so I'm preparing myself for the worse. I claimed 1 with my current job, but I claimed 0 at my last job and I always got a big return. So I'm just hoping to at least break even. I hate taxes!

I'm waiting for my W2 but I have my last paystub and I subtracted my 401(k) contributions and my healthcare and did my tax estimate. All I have is my W2, bank interest and my student loan interest deduction so it makes it pretty easy.
I'll have to pull out last years return and compare. I should get a few hundred back which comes just in time to pay my car insurance for 6 months and a little extra to maybe buy the digital camera I've talked about buying for the last year.

I am expecting to get money back this year, what with the student loan interest, the teacher deduction (a whole whopping $250 each pffft), the mortgage interest and the $2000 ( ) in property taxes we paid. Plus I think I can deduct the closing costs too ??? But I'm a little afraid that we'll end up owing again (last year it was 780 bucks on top of the 3K they took out). I have the exactly right amount of exemptions being taken and so does S. But I am worrying a little that we'll owe again. Last year was the first year I ever had to give MORE money to the IRS than they already took. Plus we had to pay Maryland last year and Howard County too. This year it's just Florida with the lovely no state income tax :). I heard you can deduct sales tax if you have your receipts. Is that true??

I can deduct my car tax (yes, you have to pay property tax on owning a car in CT)...I don't think there are too many other deductions I can take, but since my new health insurance is not great and I have to pay bigger copays, I'm going to see if I can get a break on my medical expenses. There's a rule about if you pay a certain % of your income, you can get a break. Since I don't make much... See where I'm going?

I'm expecting a fat refund. I don't care that it was my money to begin with. Delayed gratification and all that. Besides, had I gotten a few hundred dollars more in my paycheck each month, I just would have spent it on stupid stuff. Now I can use the lump sum to save or (sigh) replace some broken appliances.
