I just came from a really oppressive, over-stressed environment where i was working at a plant that was bound to shut down. Since I've left, they announced that they're closing. I was there for two years. I looked for a new job for an entire year, and was faced with two options after I decided I couldn't take it anymore and put in my notice. I decided on my current job because of the amount of money that they give for tuition reimbursement. I knew it would be a step down (as far as salary and the actual job) from what I was doing, but it was an hour closer to home...etc.

Well, I've been at the new job for a month, and I'm bored numb. The tasks I'm given are data-entry and filing. It's very disorganized, and a lot of the people that work there are nuts. I overheard someone in the next cubicle saying that I don't do my work, and when I asked that person about it, she acted like I made it up. My other co-worker told the person training me in my presence that she looked like she was pregnant, she was fat, and needed to lose weight. Not only that, but EVERYONE there is new (has been there less than a year)

My boss told me about a week ago that they would like to keep me in that position for at least two years.

I contacted the temp service that I'm working through (it's a temp-to-hire position) , and they don't seem too concerned that I'm unhappy because my boss tells them I'm doing well. They're sure the tasks will get more challenging, etc.

So, here's my question. I've been there a month and a half. Should I feel guilty about wanting to leave already? And if I look for a new job, do I have to even list this on my resume?

I was in a similar situation when I first started my current job (And 1st job ever). If I was given any job at all they were data-entry and filing jobs. But 5 months into my job I have been getting other stuff to do. I still get to do the data entry/filing/secretarial work some of the time but I am also doing other things that I actually enjoy.
I would say a month and a half is a short period to make an important decision like leaving your job. But you should not feel guilty about wanting to leave. As for your resume, I wouldn’t put it there; it might give a negative impression about the person (inability to dedicate themselves to the job, etc)

Good Luck!
