Where do you all eat your lunch?
I was just informed today, that we are no longer supposed to eat in our 2 conference room areas, due to people leaving a mess behind. We do not have a lunchroom here, unless you want to count the one used by our special needs clients, and I really do not want to have to eat in their every day. At lunch, I like relaxing for that half hour, and reading a book and or magazine or chatting with co-workers, I don't think I should have to sit at my deks, where I know I will be bothered. What do you guys do for lunch?

LOL, this is gonna sound so odd, but my department hides out in the storage closet :p We have a chairs and table at the far end of the room, so if we want to eat together we can.
Lately we have all been going back there, eating our food and reading whatever book we bring from home :p

We have a little lunchroom, but no one actually eats in there. I generally nuke my food in there, eat it at my desk and then hightail it out of here for an hour whether it's to the gym, run errands, to go sit outside, etc. Even if we order food together, we all eat it at our desks and then go do our own thing.

I've eaten at my desk before - it's nice on days when I just want some privacy/quiet. However, we also have a few break areas/tables in my building and we have two cafeterias on site. Most of the time my department all meets up in the caf, heading over around noon I'm usually guaranteed to run into someone I know that I can join. Of course, that wasn't the case at my last company so it really depends on the people you work with. :)

No lunchroom at my work either. Most people have little groups that they go to a restaurant with, or over to the neighboring mall's food court. During the summer it's nice to eat along the river. I usually eat at my desk, but I've only been part-time (except during the summer). When I start 100% full-time, I'm sure I'll mix it up a bit.
Am I the only one who enjoys using lunch to get away from people or recharge alone?

nope, I enjoy my solitary lunches; the old bitties in another lunch area have even made comments how I sit by myself and read .

I usually go to the student union, which has subway, salads, soups, etc.
Its really beautiful in the summer because ther'es all these trees, benches, foutains etc. and everyone is out and about. In the winter, I tend to stay inside and sit at the counter and look out at all that stuff and remain warm.
I also go home for lunch and out to lunch w/ my bf, who only works 5 minutes away!

We have a cafeteria of sorts here (there's no food served here, although the cafeteria appears as though it was designed to do so) so I usually eat with coworkers down there. I only have a half hour lunch. If I had a full hour I'd probably go home. I used to eat in my car so I could listen to the radio sometimes.

We have a cafeteria, and a lounge in the office building, and 2 kitchens to choose from in our specific office space.
My group goes to the cafe most days, and out on Fridays. When its nice out we sit outside our office on the patio.
I NEVER eat at my desk.
If no one is around I head out for some errands or just a cruise. Studies show getting away from the desk for 30minutes to an hour makes you 30% more productive in the afternoon because the brain has had a break from the same scenario.

i only have a 30 minute lunch break, so i usually go outside and take a smoke break and chit chat then come back and eat at my desk.
We do have a cafeteria available though if we want to use it

When I was working I'd usually go out and get pick up somethign for lunch with a co-worker/friend of mine and then we'd eat back at our desks and I'd surf qlc :). I wasn't big on our lunchroom there.

Going out is a lot of fun - we have occasions where we all go out in a big group to a restuarant - someone leaving the company, birthdays, finishing a big study, whatever. Today about 30 of us were at this Indian buffet. It was oh so good - the only problem is that we all came back reeking of curry.
But totally worth it :)
