Come do what I do for a day, then you can see why I want an office job.

Have you ever actually worked in an office? I used to want an office job too until I did it for 2 years :p

Okay I won't say you're crazy but I am thinking it. :D I'm still at my office job...10:38PM EST and counting.

What do you do by the way?

ya never know..

Cleaning. And I don't mean houses, either.

And yes, I formerly worked for a newspaper, so I can say I have worked in an office before. I was the one who answered the majority of the phone calls. For the most part, I enjoyed it. Something new all the time.

I work for a newspaper, and yes, it's always something new, so better than most desk jobs in that regard. However, still too officey much of the time for me. What's up, weight gain, carpal tunnel, sore back, eyestrain and diminished eyesight?

Try driving a semi truck for a living.... I gained *thirty pounds* in three months with one company... most of us have chiropractors all around the country... every six months to a year, I have to get my eyesight checked because the strain of the headlights at night make it feel like my glasses are loosing strength.

I don't think you're nuts for wanting an office job! I love my truck, but you know what? I'd about kill for an office job at this point as well!

I think it might be kinda cool to drive a truck. I bet you've gotten to see a lot!

Someone can have my office job! I'm ready to quit and go wait tables.

I've generally found my office jobs kind of fun for the first couple of weeks while you're still learning things and figuring out your flow. Then it just gets to be routine.

It can be, but it's not as fabulous as a lot of people think. Also, contrary to what people think, I hardly ever get to stop and go sightseeing (hard when you're 80ft long to find parking!), and after 9/11, most trucks are routed away from landmarks.

Pavement is the same color in just about all 48 contiguous states (not to mention Canada and Mexico) - I can tell you that.

That said, yeah, I love my job most times. But I crave an office job in the same to get things I don't get to have... namely, a life. I'm never home, I have few friends anymore, and the thought of a relationship and settling down is almost impossible when you're out over 40 weeks a year.

I think most jobs can be described that way. I think that's probably a good reason why so many of us end up back in school time and time again. The learning phase is cool, but when you get down into the nitty gritty, you just get bored.

That is one of the great things about my job. It's something different every day, for the most part. I don't get bored too often.
