Hey:

When I work Saturdays now, which is not all the time, it's in the afternoon.

I worked Saturday mornings at my last job -- I was in by 10 a.m. I hated working 6 days a week there, and what sucked was, M-F, my hours were 4 p.m. to close, so in order to get out of bed on Saturdays, I more or less skipped sleeping the night before.

Basically, I got by on coffee, Rock Star (RedBull for cheapskates), and playing on the Internet, like you and I and some of QLC is now. I didn't know about QLC, so my co-worker and I would look at real-estate and eBay and Craigslist.

p.s. I had NO IDEA bankers could play on the Internet, especially since the field is so information-sensitive. When I get my money out, or put my money in, I envision the bank workers using a touch screen, or DOS, or something really basic.

When I worked as a teller (albeit briefly), we had access to the intrAnet from our terminals. The people at the desks who had more power than we did... they had full blown internet. My buddy who runs the entire network for a credit union is online all the time - in fact, he makes it an interesting habit of emailing my cell phone on an hourly basis when he gets bored ;)

That said, yeah... I have to work too.... but then, I'm working retail (for a few more days). When I get back on my truck, I'll still work weekends, but all the days kinda mash together in one unrecognizable blob...

I haven't worked evenings and weekends for several years, but I used to work both. Also, the entire time I was growing up, my dad worked a second job because he had five kids, and he was basically at his second job all evenings, weekends AND holidays from April or May through October or November. For several years we didn't do anything fancy for Easter because my dad was working, and he ALWAYS worked Fourth of July and Memorial Day and Labor Day. Our family's plans basically revolved around his work schedule. So I really sympathize with people who have to do this now. In the summer we couldn't really do things together as a family on the weekends, so we'd always go to amusement parks or the beach on a weekday, which was nice because there are usually far fewer people there. Also, alot of activities are cheaper to do on the weekends. When I was right out of college and still working retail, I usually liked having days off in the middle of the week instead of on the weekend because I was used to the benefits of doing weekend stuff in the middle of the week instead.

I often work evenings and weekends, due to the journalism job. I have to cover stuff whenever it occurs...which is often evenings and weekends.

I usually don't work weekends, but I'm at work today trying to get something done. I'm actually having a blast because I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in the building right now (definitely the only person on my floor). I came in wearing jogging pants with coffee in tow, I'm going at my own rate, no one's stopping by to stress or pressure me. I have something running in the lab, so I'm waiting for it to finish as I sit here with the popcorn I just made and I have my music playing pretty loud.

All said, this is pretty awesome. And yes, I realize I am a sad, sick individual before anyone says so :)

I used to work in the evenings and weekends. While sometimes it sucked if I was out till the wee hours the night before, and then would have to drag my butt in to work, for the most part, I was always alone which was cool to get work done, and not be bothered with anyone else really. I also used to like my mid-shift or late evening schedule, because I could still go out to meet people after work, and have time to get stuff done during the day before work. Ah, to be young again.............

I'm actually writing a brochure right now that I didn't have time to do last week.

It's not that bad - its only three pages. Plus, I'm getting paid time and a half!!!!

I wanted to do the overtime because I'm saving up right now.

Lucky! I wish I wasn't salary sometimes. I mean, I really technically don't have to be here, but being here today is going to reduce my stress level this coming week and that's important to me because last week was hell on earth.

Well, I actually am salary. But, if I work more than 40 hours I also get paid overtime. Its freakin' awesome.

Dude, tell that to the new 25-year-old we recently hired at work. She asked me how old I was and I told her. She said "Wow, you don't look that old". Sheesh, maybe I should order a coffin and a plot LOL.

I actually prefer working when nobody else is in. During regular office hours, I'm always getting interrupted by people, phone calls, walk-ins needing coverage. If I work after hours or on the weekends, I can actually get a lot done. I also often come in early and stay late for the same reason.

I hear ya on that one. We are having issues with space at my current office. People come in when they really don't need to be there and I have to give up my desk, computer and phone and it is really frustrating. We are supposed to discuss this at an upcoming meeting, that if you are a P/T staff member you really need to be doing most of your work at home, or scheduling a time to be at the office, not just "show up". It really does put me out a lot of times.

For me, it's that with a whole office to choose from, whenever somebody is at the counter with something, no matter how mundane, it's "We'd better get Jessie up here." ANYbody here can handle taking dumb news tip information we're not going to use anyway. It's not like I'm the sole liaison with the public. I could get a lot more done if I weren't being called up front constantly to talk with every joe blow in the world about their fart-blowing contest and the extensive coverage they think it requires. Drop off your press release and leave. I don't have to interview you for a small local news item.
