Klo1335 just posted something about Craig's list and how it's really taken off, but it's for major cities. What about those of you (like me) who don't live near a major city? What do you do for fun? How can you meet people when your towns got a few dive bars and a movie theater?

I came across a few craigslist postings (in both Boston and Seattle) that were either suburban or nowhere near the cities they're listed under... posters just noted their region in brackets. But unfortunately I don't have any suggestions for non-metropolitan dwellers about where to meet people, b/c I can't even do it in a city!

Could you email the people who moderate craigslist and possibly start something in your area?
Picses--where you work at, I am sure there must be lots of people you don't know. Maybe through Yale you can get a craigslist thing going? Just a suggestion. Not sure if it would really work.

Klo--GOOD idea. Actually I had thought about trying to start something for young Yale employees awhile ago, but I wasn't sure how to do that. I know someone in HR, maybe I'll email her and run my idea by her. I've met some young people in various other departments who wished there was a way to meet other young Yale employees. It sucks, because we look like students, there are students our ages, but we can't associate them because our IDs are like scarlet letters for LOSER. Oh well.

If you lived closer, you could help arrange our group and be the facilitator, since you have NO affiliation with Yale. The Unions would be ALL over that! HA!

Unfortunately small towns have that problem. I live in a college town and all of the college hangouts have women that are just a bit too young for me. I don't really want to go bar hopping, because that seems more like a way to find a fling rather than a long term relationship. My only hope is that people that live in small towns have been having relationships for years, so there must be a way to do it. I'll have to keep plugging away I guess.

If you're not, then you're in for some pain in this town. When the Mounties win, the whole town pours into the streets and the flames reach towards the heavens. Although come to think of it, most of the time that happens when we lose too. :)
