Apartment help

my fiance and myself moved into our first apartment in December. Everything was going fine until people moved in right next door. They blast rap music all day long and all night. Its not just thin walls, you can hear it through out the building. We tried to get them to turn it down last night and it did not work. My fiance ran into one of them in the hallway and asked if they could keep it down and he told him to shut the hell up! He went to the manager and he said he would take care of it. What if that does not work, then what do you do? Should I be afraid they will do something? Please Help!

if the apartment manager doesn't do something, then try again. if not, i'm sure they're violating some sort of noise ordinance. It's probably a better idea some day ot knock on their door, get to know them and say hey, i have to get up really or soemthig and could you try nad keep your music down...

I'm not really sure why you would be afraid of them "doing something." Did they threaten you?

Well, if they are playing the music at night then you can call the cops.

Just the way you describe the way the guy addressed you doesn't sound appropriate. I'd call the cops everytime they do it.

If they're playing it early enough in the morning, you can also call.

I just want to commend you for not being afraid to get engaged and live in an apartment. I think too many people are afraid of taking those steps before they've bought a home.

Your apartment manager should be able to evict them for lease voilations if they are loud after 10pm or before 8am (at least that's the law in Texas) though I'm not sure if they'll go through with it. They might take forever "investigating" the complaint. The advice to call the cops is also good, you might want to request to stay anonymous so your neighbors don't retaliate. You could also talk to your manager about moving apartments.
