The company which I will be working for will require me to wear a suit every day (which needless to say, I'm not too thrilled about)...does anyone here have that policy? And if you do, how do you go around buying suits? How often do you dry clean?

you have to wear a full suit every day?

my husband has to wear a shirt and tie and dress pants, but he doesn't have to wear a jacket everyday.

being that i am from canada, eh - i am unsure as to the shopping options where you are, but there should be some type of menswear store near you that sells reasonably priced suits. go there, they measure and fit you. if you can afford it, it is nice to spend $500+ on one suit for specail occasions/big meetings etc, it'll fit better, and be more comfortable and you'll feel better. However if you really want to stick with a budget then you should be able to pick up a couple of $190 specials

i'd say stick with dark colors as they can pretty much go with any color of shirt. in adition to a suit, you might also want to pick up a sport coat that matches a varitey of color of pants. if you don't always feel like wearing a suit jacket or sport coat on your commute then leave it at the office for emergency/meeting wear.

as for dry cleaning i'll usually wear a jacket 5 times of so before i think about cleaning it. if it is the summer or i have worn it somewhere that people are smokign i'll get it cleaned more often

Yup :(

I've done the tie and shirt before, but never the suit. And I haven't worn a tie for work in three years.

Let's just say that this company is pretty much as corporate as it gets. I'm not working at the main, main office, but it's still suits and ties, even on Friday.

Mark, there's also The Men's Warehouse and Daffy's (in the basement) in the city. Check those out too.

Definitely look for sales. I know when my BF was looking for suits there'd be a lot of sales at Hecht's and Macy's.

Outlets are also another good option.

I have to wear the jacket occasionally, but I wear the pants/shirt/tie daily. I get a fair amount of my business clothes from Jos A. Bank Clothiers. They will tailor your pants and jacket to you, which is always nice. Any other business stuff I just buy from Nordstroms or Neiman.

By the way, I dry clean my pants once a week.

I like the Brooks Brothers outlets, if there are any in your area. Go w/ navy or gray - those are conservative and usually work at any place. You probably want a two-button; I'm tall and can wear a three-button, but I still prefer two-button.

Dry clean - forgot if it was 6 months, or a year, depending.

Ties - get a couple ties so you can mix it up - depending on the industry you are in, some colors may not be suitable. Look at your coworkeres, but navy, striped black/silver are my favorites. Red and yellow may or may not be too flashy.

Dress shirt - white always works, maybe a few more with patterns or blues.
