Does anyone have any opinions on Wesley Clarke? It seems to me that he has no experience and is just running to cause some waves. In other words, I think he is all talk and no action.

I'm still in the information-gathering phase with Clark...( ever since he announced his candidacy it's been on my to-do list, which is buried under a mound of work). Don't think he has any policy experience. (Then again, did Eisenhower?) But apparently a lot of ex-Clinton staffers are helping him out.

My Q is, how is he already supposedly ahead in the polls, if he's barely said anything???

Clark, right now, looks like a winner. He started his campaign at the right time, took advantage of low poll numbers on Bush (49% according to the new WSJ poll), and the media/California recall generated perception that the 9 original Democrat candidates are weak.
Dean has the most money of the group, and that's what counts - but in a HYPOTHETICAL race Dean would lose to Bush.
But in a hypothetical race,
Kerry would beat Bush by 1, and Clark would beat Bush by 3.
I think some in the GOP are putting money into Dean, hoping he'll go up against Bush and lose.

Basically, a Clark/Kerry ticket is unbeatable.
Experience, foreign policy expertise, and just plain COMPETENCY.

BTW, What happened to this country? When did we want a President we could have a beer with instead of a President who could lead EVERYONE with the RIGHT kind of ideals for America in mind?

It looks like Bush is finished - thank God this country is waking up.

But who will take his place - who can guarantee a victory? Dean is pushing it, but I like him. Clark has a certain quiet intelligence and confidence that I think most Americans can get behind. Plus we need someone to repair the tattered remains of our foreign policy.

I just want to support someone I can feel proud of, who represents the plurality of this country - not some over priveledged plutocrat/corporate errand boy.

Just curious... what's in your criteria for a "hypothetical" race? Cuz I personally don't see Kerry beating Bush.

Kerry is way more aggressive than his thus far image portends. A debate between Bush and Kerry would be a decimation of Bush - just on a sheer visceral level - a 6 foot plus Senator, next to a under 6 foot low polling President? Its a no-brainer. Clark and Kerry are the way to go if the goal is to beat Bush. Tell your friends.
BTW - I got my numbers from the most recent CNN poll...

Yeah, I was actually wondering about the source for the numbers. Thanks for clarifying!

I don't see either Clark or Kerry going in for VP, though. But I agree, it would be a strong ticket.

In a Kerry-Bush debate, I have no doubt Kerry would do well. But based on image alone (the height thing aside!), I'd be worried that Bush would come across as the ordinary down-home talkin' guy being bashed by Kerry, the more poised and polished politician. You made a comment earlier about how we don''t have a president we can trust and respect, we have one people would want to have a beer with --I personally wouldn't!!!;)-- but sadly, there's an entire demographic out there that that probably appeals to.

Good point Rainster, but I think in a post 9/11 world people realize that having a beer with a guy doesn't mean as much as it used to. At least I hope so.

If foreign policy and the economy are serious issues for people in 2004, then Kerry/Clark will have a legitimate shot at the White House.

If people continue to fool themselves into believing that a rookie in Foreign Policy with an inept economic plan is right for America - then by all means vote for Bush.

I'm kind of pissed right now. My friend here at work just got laid off. He's competent, smart, and funny. This economy is insane - good people are losing their jobs. We all have something to fear under this administration.
