Any Sopranos fans here? Last night Dr. Melfi was explaining to Tony (as he was complaining about AJ) that it's becoming more difficult for young adults today who are bombarded with information, and that *sociologists say the age at which we become adults is now 26 rather than 21 * ! I quote this stat all the time - from recent research at the Macarthur Foundation. I thought it was great that David Chase is aware of the changing transition to adulthood. Of course, AJ's may be a bit extreme - not only living at home but dropped out of school, going to the clubs every night and doing coke, and almost tried to kill his great uncle! A Sopranos-style QLC, I love it!

I'm not a big Sopranos fan, but isn't AJ about 18 or 19? Still a bit too young to have a QLC...I think.

Yeah, that was a great moment. I also think AJ's waywardness and need for acceptance is related to living in his meritocrat sister's shadow - although in previous seasons she too is portreyed lazy and self-entitled.

Tony's reluctance to let AJ into the family business is an interesting plot thread. (If I were AJ, I'd be carry a pistol and spend my days at the Bing!, no question.) Tony is also a boomer who never finished college and so, damnit, he's going to make sure that his kids do. He seems incapable of articulating why college is important beyond that it is a venue to learn "smart stuff" and to "become more".

I loved the scene where Tony strolls around the neighborhood under his stewardship, mediating complaints among its residents. This image indicates more parallels among corporate and mafia power structures, confronting the white-collar world with its own moral ambiguities. This is really something the series should get back to on a more weekly basis.

I got to see a taped copy last night! It was a good show. Especially the Vito and the Johnny-Cakes guy scenes ;).

They've never fired anyone before, I doubt they'll start with him.
