I just read the best career advice book! It's called "The College Grad's Guide to Purgatory" by Elycia Arendt.
Now, I'm pretty cynical about most career advice books. In my experience they are usually sugar coated "Dr. Phil" psychobabble about getting a "perfect" job, which as we all know by now, there is no such thing.
This book was written by someone who knows how hard it really it is to get a job after college and acknowledges the hellish experience all of us are going through. Not only was it painfully accurate, it was also hilarious. The author tears apart all sorts of myths fed to you when you are in college, and she even walks you step by step through some of the things you will experience on your first job. I really like the descriptions of cubicle dwellers at the end of the book. Her observations were as funny as Office Space.
I think this would be a great book for anyone having a hard time finding a job or who just graduated.
You can get a copy at Amazon.com for sure, and I think its at Barnes and Noble online too.
The College Grad's Guide to Purgatory is highly recommended!
