Cynthia McKinney's black constituents like her more for hitting a cop?

I just read an AP article on the Augusta Chronicle website quoting a University of Georgia political scientist Charles Bullock saying Cynthia McKinney is almost assured victory in the next election because her black constituents see her as a freedom fighter for hitting that cop a few months ago.
Article also stated she wanted to open a Tupac Shakur exhibit in the National Archives.
I wish this woman would just move out of the state. She's such an embarrassment and a bad influence.

I read about that as well. It's completely stupid if they really do support her just because she struck an officer. Her own party was backing away from her when she started making allegations that the officer touched her inappropriately.

It seems like a racist comment to me. It wasn't even a real significant event. She threw her cell phone at him and hit him in the chest. She was going thru some security check point, wasn't recognised by the cop and he put his hands on her. I mean, has any of us not been severely frustrated with this excessive and ridiculous security thats being forced on us. It was really about her celebrity status and thinking she was above it. Kind of like at some airports, they have an express security checkpoint for first class passengers.

And to think black folks are going to turn out in droves at the polls because of this minor incident, seems to me to be painting blacks as knee jerk reactionary idiots.

Something about this just made me giggle. I think its the irony, the suspect took the officers taser and shot him with it. Cops seem to get a big boner about there tasers, because you get the sick joy of inflicting pain on someone without killing them. Don't worry Deputy Dog, its non lethal. Stings a little though doesn't it.

How interesting, was there a poll? Did every black person in the state of Georgia say something to this effect, or is this just racist speculation on Bullock's part?

So I'm a moron... well opinions vary. Just because I see a situation differently doesn't make me an idiot and it sure as hell doesn't remove my right to say it. If idiots weren't allowed to speak, who would run for office, Larry would still be a Cable Guy, the Klan would never put up another cross.

I never suggested they were all assholes. But a large portion of them aren't helping. And right about here is where I get labeled a piece of shit for pointing out an obvious truth. There's many things we've invented that encourages normally good people to do horrible things. Working for a polluting corporation... nobody wants to poison their environment but in a corporate mindset it becomes easy because its nobodies fault. Religion... takes usually well meaning people and allows them to do awful things. And yes, authoritarian institutes like gov't, police, military... takes normally harmless people and brings out the absolute worst in humanity. The power poisons you and it takes a rare individual to avoid it. And theres a lack of rare individuals. Also, maybe the most awful thing, there's something about abusing power that gives them enjoyment. Plus the person drawn to that line of work is more prone in their personality to behave horribly. Thats just a fact. And I'm not gonna put on the hero blinders and ignore the horrible effects something like that has on society as a whole. Far more lives have been ruined by prisons and bullshit laws than have been ruined by crime. Prisons don't work. They make all the revenge-heads feel better, but they don't reduce crime at all.

My odds of being a victim of a crime are fairly remote. If I'm being mugged, I give the guy the money. If I'm being robbed, I'd probably call the cops in hopes the guy runs off, but locking the bedroom door and laying low will probably be the thing that will save my life.
