...so how do I seriously list my "accomplishments" on a self-review? It's ridiculous.

Sometimes even just little tiny things like "using a laser scanner" can turn the tide. You have no idea what people can and can't do.

Most people expect computer literacy, right? I was once asked by this perfectly capable girl at school to help her with a computer assignment. I asked her to click on a certain icon and she asked, "How do I click?"

She typed 45wpm, and was verbally very intelligent, but didn't know how to use a computer. The most technologically advanced thing she'd ever used in the workplace was a typewriter, and that very well. (She was even a better typist than most of us because she could type without the backspace or delete button.)

That's a rare case, but you'd be surprised what you can put on a resume.

Maybe you can specify which monkey could do your job. Like if you said that Donkey Kong or King Kong could do your job then I wouldn't think your job is too difficult...but if you said that it would take a Magilla Gorilla or maybe that monkey from "BJ and the Bear" to do your job, then that's saying something.

Seriously though, just like a resume, you'll need to find a way to spruce up your tasks. You can either quantify what you've done with numbers/percentages. Maybe you've cut down process time by 25%, etc. If you don't go that route, you can speak the praises of your intangible traits - ie. teamwork, adaptability, dependability, multi-tasking.
I can understand it would be tough to sing the praises of something that you think is so easy to do but if it's really that easy to do, then your work results should be able to reflect that. Make mention of that and provide evidence and they help you out in your self-review.
