Applying to grad schools for the second time is not all it is cracked up to be. Now I have been out of school for over a year and I am feeling so inadequate. Maybe I don't really belong there. My GPA wasn't that great and neither were my studying habits. I'm going to try to give it all I've got this time but I don't know if I can handle yet another set of rejection letters. A little sad ranting. :(

Awww, everybody feels like this - even when they do get in!!!

Try your best to block the thoughts about your GPA (you can't change it now!) and study habits (the admissions crew don't need to know that!)

and really concentrate hard on your good points. Inflate them, actually. In your head and on your applications.

and hey, you already know what it's like to get rejected, so you already know how to deal. Instead of thinking that you are "doubly a failure" if you don't get in again, consider that you have more tenacity than the average person, and that you really put your best effort forward until there was no more you could do. You can't be blamed for exhausting all possibilities.

Getting in to grad school is not the B-all and end-all. Remember that, whether you get in or not.

(((Hugs)) I am in the process of applying to g-school myself. I know all too well how stressful it is.

I'm going for my second year of applying right now. It sucks, especially since I have to write that damn personal statement all over again. But I know it's what I want, so I gotta do it. It's rough, but once you get it over and done with you'll feel so much better. Just don't doubt yourself. (I know, easier said than done right?)

It is good to know I am not the only person going through this. Hopefully we will all get in. I know that 'if at first you don't succeed try, try, and try again' but it sucks. It seems everyone gets in at first try. I know not EVERYone gets in but it sure does seem like it. I've been getting some great feedback from my statement and how to restructure it and I am more than willing to take all that constructive criticism and put it to good use. hmm....guess it just sucks from time to time. For all those of you also applying and in the same boat, good luck.

It is comforting seeing this posting...I experienced grad school rejection...applied to 4 different schools and received rejection letters from them all. I am in the process of looking into trying again...its stressful and sometimes hard not to have a "negative attitude" but I guess all one can do is keep on chugging and think as positive as possible!
Good luck in your app. process round two! :-)

Last night I saw The Last Kiss with Zach Braff (love him) and one of the characters said 'you only fail if you quit trying' (I may be paraphrasing but it makes sense). It hit me then not to give up...only if I give up will I become a failure. So keep trying!!!!
