I think mine are about $1100 monthly. That is not including credit cards which I don't count as regular bills.

A very heavy urge to drink.
My bills are about $900. That's only the bills I mail away in an envelope, not any of my other monthly expenses. I've been behind since the beginning of the year, when my hours were drastically cut at my previous job. I've caught up with all but one, and now I have a brand new huge unexpected expense to pay for.
Not to mention that right now I'm only making $12/hr, which will be raised in November, and I will not have to pay for health insurance out of pocket anymore, but I need to get caught up now and take care of the unexpected thing now!
Makes me want to cry...

This is for two people mind you:
mortgage- 1145
property taxes and insurance- 300
car payment- 309
car insurance (2 cars)- 92
electric-250ish
water-100
cable/internet-110
school loans (both)-300
YMCA- 47 (family plan)
cell phones- 80
= $2733
...and then credit card pay down (around 300-500 or more a month, we're trying to pay them off), and food (350-400ish), gas (around 100 for both now), other expenses (whatever). We are trying to stick money in savings too. But it we need to pay off some things and pay taxes first.

Holy crap you eat cheap! I spend at least $300 alone just on food.
For me it's usually:
$300 - rent (live in my parents old house)
$50 - gas
$300 - food
$30 - insurance
$100 - personal items/clothes/make-up, etc. (sometimes I don't spend all of this though)
$50 - cell phone
I usually budget for around $900 per month to be on the safe side.

I know I've posted on this topic a few times, but I think that was when I lived in So. Cali.
I have an excel spread sheet that helps me keep track of where my money is going.
Rent: $575
Water: $30
Cable/Internet/land line: $128
Electricity: $40-85 (summers are more expensive than winters)
Cell Phone: $40
Gas for the car: <$75
Insurance (life, car, rent): $119
Car payment: $0
School loan: $175 (I have $1900 left of a $15k student loan!)
Gym membership: $24
Groceries (which include household products): $100-200
Meals out/entertainment: $40-100
Prescription drugs: $20
Savings (I consider this a "bill" because I always have money put towards my savings accounts): $320
Roth IRA: $200
Medical Bills: $40-200
I know I have other bills and many due vary, but I keep track of where my money goes all the time.

Yes.
For me...
$1,100 rent (AAAAARGH!!!!!)
$120 car insurance
$50 cell phone
$30-50 electric/water
$20-40 gas
$50 'T' pass (pre tax)
$50 dry cleaning
$80 gas
$150 food
$110 cable/internet
$55 student loan
About $1,800-1,900 in "basic" expenses. The rent kills everything...I'm in OK shape now, but I'd be in pretty good shape if I had a "normal" rent.

I don't understand how you can spend $300 on food. Is this eating out or groceries or both?
My $85 buys enough groceries to eat for a month.

No, this is just cooking everything I at home (I rarely eat out). I eat a lot of fresh produce so maybe that's why....
what types of foods are you buying? I have no idea how someone could get by on $85/week unless you were eating KD and canned beans for every meal.

to be honest i just pay all my bills and I still have about $900/month left over. When the left over slips to about $400 I'll reevaluate, otherwise I'll just keep my head down and keep on trucking......

I'm somewhat the same way...I make sure most of the stuff I buy is on sale or is cheap. But I don't think I could eat peanut butter all the time, unless I was really desperate for money.

All depends where you live...for instance, Yankee lives in an inner-ring Boston suburb. SmilesSoSweet lives in Phoenix where it's hella cheap. I live in South Central CT, on the shoreline and I pay $650, but that's only b/c my grandfather is the landlord. Otherwise, it would be ~$900.

This is total for what is being paid by the household.
Mortgage- 900
Car payment- 330
Car insurance for two cars - 100
Electric (average) - 100
Water - No idea because we pay every 3 months, I think.
Cable/internet - 150
Cell phones - 80ish for two phones
Grocery store - 200
Total - 1860
That doesn't include the motorcycle insurance because I have no idea what that is or credit card bills.

cobra $250 (health insurance)
student loans $350
gas $100
groceries $60
credit card misc $130
total $890
i've cut back tremendously, but making less than $800 a month means that i basically have to stop eating and stop leaving my house.

I guess its a good thing you have a two-income household. But then again, two people equal one more person's extra bills.
Are you guys staying afloat ok or is it a struggle?

Winter- we spend so much money on shit, I can't even believe it. And by shit, I mean clothes, going out, having fun, that kind of stuff.
We bring in about $8500/mo, which doesn't include a bonus twice a year.

What do you eat for protein? It just amazes me, not that I don't believe you, but being able to eat for so little. You must not eat very much either?
I try and make my meals relatively cost effective to and I'm SO much higher.

We had a whole thread (http://www.quarterlifecrisis.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19423&) on this too and it was surprising to see what people live off of.
For instance, a month's worth of groceries costs me about $100. I can't imagine eating $300 a month.

Well you can get massive packages of meat like chicken and lean ground beef at Sams Club or Costco very cheap, so I shop there a lot. I'm not a huge guy (#165) so I guess I don't eat a ton.
I guess I don't eat many fruits or vegetables and those are really expensive. The stuff I eat is cheap I guess.

Yeah, I was gonna say. I usually buy a family pack of chicken breasts for around $8 and that lasts me a month or two. I also alternate that with salmon, tilapia filets and using ground turkey for meals.
I probably spend maybe $20 monthly on fish and meat.

I guess where you shop has a lot to do with it, and produce here lately has been really expensive, like $4 for a cauliflower head. I eat a lot of vegetables which is pretty much the bulk of my bills. But I'm tiny 115 pounds...so I guess I'm pig! haha :p

Here's my monthly expenses, and keep in mind this is all Canadian dollars. I'm not in Vancouver anymore so this is a hell of a lot less than I was spending a couple months ago. If my roommates leave and I have to get a place by myself I'd expect my rent to go up to around $500.

Up until 2 weeks ago, I worked a really low paying job, and had VERY little to spend on any extras. Hopefully now that I'm making double my former salary, I'll be able to save some and SPEND SOME. :huge:

Yeah, when I left Yale, it was over $600/month for COBRA, but that's b/c I had a BC/BS plan. This plan is Cigna. New job = BC/BS again!
The $244 is per month, btw.
