Who are these people? I have no information on my account. I started it because everyone and their mother has an account and always says, "You gotta see this!!!!".

They are people who are desperate enough to send out blind friend requests to anybody. They just want to add as many people as possible.

I got a friend request the other day from this girl who wants to be friends with everyone who has the same name as her...but it has to be spelled correctly. So her goal is to befriend everyone named Alison with one L. I denied her request :razz:

I get random friend requests and messages all the time. Sometimes they aren't so random, and people actually have things in common with me, so once in a while I respond to random messages or add random people to my friends. Sometimes friends of my friends will want to be my friend too, etc.

Lots of people genuinely use that site to meet new people, so it's not always as seedy as it may seem. Sometimes though, it is, and you can usually tell when you get those, lol.

Most of the time the random requests I get come from people who have a music page and they want me to check out their band.

I get that all the time. Mostly I just deny it. The ones for music artists I keep if I like thier music

Agreed, I do get a handful of the musicians, but I'll accept them if I like their music. Being a new band is rough, so if they're good, I'll do what I can to spread the word :)

I've put a couple of them on my ipod. :) its silly really, but its nice to be able to know someone's music before they get "big". and its easier to reccommend them to someone if I can say "hey, listen to this"

The thing that I think is most interesting about this is how much it depends on what your profile pic is. My first one was just a big group shot, but the day I switched it to just a shot of me, I had about 10 messages and friend requests, and have gotten them continually since, lol. I can't imagine the amount of crap those hoochie girls must get when they've got those pornstar pics on their profiles!

Totally. I refuse to give in. I wouldn't maintain it anyway. I have enough web junk I don't keep up with now. :googly:
