i had a phone interview scheduled for today, and the guy stood me up! the receptionist was so weird too...when i called in, she asked me "did he ask you to call?" ummm...YES! apparently, he was on the line with a client and would call me back. but it's been a few hours and still nothing and i don't want to be a psycho stalker chick... what to do?

It has happened to me too. The first time the interviewer was late by about an hour, so we agreed to reschedule. The second time the interviewer didn't even call

I'd keep calling back once an hour until you got him. He did schedule an interview with you; you have a right to insist on speaking to him. You did rearrange your life to be there for the interview.

Is this your only job option right now? I ask this b/c it doesn't sound like this place is very organized. Would you want to work for a place like that?
I wouldn't.
If you don't have any other interviews/possible jobs lined up, give them one more chance. Then I'd go elsewhere. I just can't see working for a place who seems so disorganized and clueless.

thanks guys... i knew something was up b/c what sort of professional does that? so the guy never called and i got an email today that said the position was filled. what a wimp! like he couldn't just tell me that on the phone? and you're totally right, i DON'T want to work for a company like that. maybe sometimes things work out for the best?
lafille - i'm glad you like them!! from my two favorite feel good things to watch. :)

Yeah i've had this happen to me too. I had a phone interview, the HR woman never called me and I waited an hour and ended up late to a face to face interview I had scheduled that day.
So I had her direct number on my caller ID and I called her back and asked about the interview and was scheduled for another date. I was stood up again for this one and called the number and got no answer.
Finally as I was about to head out with friends, she calls and apologizes for a few minutes and wants to do the interview then. I remember the first thing I thought after that interview was that the least they could do after all this was to hire me, and they did so it all worked out.
