So I've been looking at job websites lately, trying to get a feel for some of the jobs that are out there that I might like and there are so many more opportunities in either other provinces or in the states. The thought of applying to a position away from my city hasn't really occured to me at this point but I think eventually I may have to to do what I'd like to do.

I'm in Canada right now so would it be pointless to even apply somewhere in teh states? I have no idea how that works, like then would I have to go down for an interview (if they were interested) or do they do something over the phone first?

If it was a position in another province in Canada say, would it be better to move there first and then look? I'm in Alberta so I'd be targeting Toronto or somewhere in Ontaria in this case.

You can look for jobs anywhere that you'd be willing to move.

Most companies will ask you on a job application if you're "willing to relocate" and as long as you have your address on your resume like any normal person would, companies will know your situation right off the bat and know that you'd be relocating to take the job.

Some of our clients will fly people in for interviews, others will keep things to the phone until they're more sure. It depends.

Applying for jobs in the States could be tricky, because obviously you would have to be legally eligible to work in the U.S. I don't know how much the rules on work visas have changed post-9/11.
