Okay, next week is bosses day and I got with the co-workers and we scraped up 100.00 between us for a gift. My boss is freaking awesome okay, she is one of those bosses that you don't mind coming in on Saturday's for. She has only been here since May and she is has gotten me my own office, and 8k raise, and gave me a really nice office party for my 30th b-day. She has also gotten 2 co-workers raises, got our temp hired on permanently( after our gm swore we didn't have room in the budget) and gave everyone 150.00 gift cards to the mall for getting over a rough recruiting period in our office. She is very motivating and down to earth. I love her to death (can ya tell). Anyway, we want to get her something really cool and unexpected.

Suggestions??

I don't get my boss anything, anymore.

Somebody gave him, as a joke, a beer bottle opener that played Cubs-related stuff like Harry Caray blathering on and on (Cubs fan, obv.), only he doesn't drink beer. I asked him what he DID like that comes in bottles, and he said old fashioned root beer. So I got him some gourmet ones, and they've been sitting on his desk for about 3 years now (because he's Howard Freaking Hughes and can only eat and drink very specific things, for random arbitrary reasons). So I just don't bother anymore.

He is! When we have our annual Christmas potluck lunch, he will pick through what people bring to find something that's possiblly suitable for him, and then he'll take it back to his office instead of sit with the rest of us out in the main area, so nobody can see him eat. So. Weird.

I have to be picky about potluck food, since I have allergies, and you really just never know with some foods, so I pretty much always look like I'm starving myself at these things, but at least I eat with people.

There are only eight of us, though! You can ask people if a food has (whatever) if you're allergic.

I seriously know of two dishes the man will eat.

LOL. His wife must be bored to tears about making his food.

I'm sure his wife is bored to tears in general. I like to call him Mr. Personality.

Well, then hopefully she's got some hobbies.

Ah. There's no accounting for taste, it seems.

Back to the regularly scheduled thread:

Maybe a gift card to a bookstore? Or some other favorite shop?

My boss didnt get me anything for secretaries day - i'm the only person he works with and i'm the business administrator - so why should he get anything for boss's day?

You actually like your boss though! LOL I like the Spa idea.. just make sure she goes to one.. although you can spend $100 on a mani/pedi these days at the spa where I get my massage at, so I guess its still good even if she doesnt get massages. Whatever it is, make sure its something she'll really be into because she's done a whole lot of nice things for you guys, you want to make sure you're actually spending money on something nice for her. Maybe a gift certificate to the mall? My mall has those little visa credit cards with the mall's name on it (it's a Simon mall) but it's also a visa you can use to buy anything wherever visa is accepted. (But then she might use it to pay bills? I did that once..) Do a little research.. look in her office to see if there's anything that really stands out. my office is filled w/ UF gator stuff so I know if someone gave me something like that, it would realy show they meant it and want to get me what i liked.

We were going to do a spa, but she just came back from a "girls weekend" in Sante Fe and they went to a spa already. We are still thinking of a gift, but in the meanwhile we have decided to come in next Saturday and paint her office. She has been wanting to do it since she started working here. It is a puke brown color, so we are going to paint it for her. I thought about gettin her one of those motivational pictures for the wall that say "inspire" or "success" , but getting a really nice frame for it. Is that cheesy??
