Does anyone feel burnt out after work? Normally there are personal things (grad school, studying, reading, working out, etc.) which I need and should do in a given day, but once I get home from work I just feel so drained out. I have so much energy to do all this throughout the day but once 2pm hits I am so exhausted—by the time I get home I just don’t want to do ANYTHING…which is not good because I feel like I am being unproductive and wasting my life. If anyone feels like this, how do you deal with it? How do you all deal with handling your ‘business’ after work or in the weekends? Ugh there is NEVER enough time after work to do anything for yourself because you have to prepare for the next damn day of work.

I don't usually feel like this, but I've felt like that after most days of work for the last month or so. Just blah, ya know?

There are some things that I just have to do, as I have commitments. And I've been doing a ton of reading (even for me).

I think the key, for me, is just buckling down and doing whatever it is that I need to do. Making a list helps me, since I can see the progress I'm making.

I get up and walk around periodically throughout the day. This helps to get over that afternoon slump.
I also listen to perky music so that my foot is tapping, this helps to keep me energized.

As far as getting things done after work….I head out to do things immediately upon leaving work, no going home then trying to go out later, lose all motivation.

I don’t really have to prepare for the next day of work other than making sure I have things to make a lunch in the morning, and that I have clothes to pick from to wear in my closet.

I also try to plan fun things to look forward to each evening…..dinner with friends, grab a drink and listen to a local jazz band, rent a movie I want to see……

I reserve one night for laundry and grocery shopping.

Im generally tired during the day due to running around, but that’s why someone invented Red Bull.

Mm-hmm, me too. I can run a bunch of errands after work if I need to, no problem. But if I go home first, put a movie on for a minute, it's all over.

Oh, not having television helps (hence the movie). I think we get 3 channels with an antennae. I get SO MUCH DONE.

I guess that's my major problem. I always go home afterwork. Hmm....I'm going to try not going directly home. Although it is not always that...like right now I'm am EXHAUSTED my bodyaches--it's been aching since last night though.

Don't think so. I had the early symptoms (scratchy throat, sniffles) but I took some Emergen C and ate lots of soup and I felt much better...except all week long I've been sneezing up a storm but that has also subsided. Last night I started with the body aches. I doubt my feeling burnt out has anything to do with the flu or anything bc I often feel like this...not just recently.

I can definitely understand where you are comng from. By the time I get home, its like, ughhhhhhh...I have to cook dinner, iron, do laundry, get my husbands lunch ready, clean up, etc...I just want to relax and either watch tv, read, knit, or do yoga!
